If your battery is totally dead, a regular charger won't help. You need a couple hundred amps to get your starter going. The ticking is because you have enough to get the systems up and running but when you turn the key to start, the starter motor is gonna pull every last amp it can find. If the amperage isn't high enough, the solenoid clicks. Even a boost might not get it going. First make sure you didn't seize the motor. Does the motor move at all when you hit the key? Next, let the battery charge for a while on a high setting, 10-20 amps for 90 minutes. With the charger still connected, try starting it. Still ticking? You might need a new battery. You can try starting it with heavy booster cables but have the other car's engine running around 1500-2000 rpm so the alternator can help push those amps through. Good luck.
Make sure the battery has a full charge. If you use a digital multimeter across battery posts, everything off, the generic spec for a full charge is around 12.6 volts.
If your using a jump box or charger, hopefully the gage on the tool will tell you something?
If you want to check the starter motor or wiring circuits at the starter motor, we can do that. If you try that, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and functional parking brake is set.
