Please be more descriptive and detailed about what the problem is.. It takes allot more than just gas, oil & coolent to "run good".. It might need a tune-up.. It might need a oxygen sensor.. It might need a new air cleaner.. It might need a new pcv valve.. It might have some bad vacuum lines.. Shall I go on ?

Have you had a water pump replaced lately? If so water may have got to the distributor and causing the car to act that way. When it gets hot is shuts down. Sometimes it will take awhile to restart. They put the distributor right in behind the water pump and any water leaks from pump will 99% of the time fry the distributor, if not caught.

sounds like you got some bad gas as it happened right after you got gas. take a fuel sample and see if it has water in it also if you got some with a high ethanol content it would do this. did you fill up? if it is around half tank or under fill up with some good gas and just run out

My oil and gas gauge on my truck jump .... gas gauge works fine till i get to about half a tank then it starts jumping.. oil gauge jumps from the time i start my car and regulates but when i slow down or...

You probably have a bad sending unit for the fuel level in the tank. this would cause the gauge to be erratic when the level is below 1/2 tank and the float is moving around much more than when full. The oil pressure gauge problem could be caused buy a loose wire connection or a faulty sending unit.

Truck has set for two yrs. i would crank an go around the coner put insurance on it drove a few days later it started running sluggish it kills at stop it cranks right back i put a tune up changed plugs...

After sitting for 2 years, the gas has moisture/water and it's pretty much not gas anymore. It's like your car needs 87 octane and you are running on 80 octane, just enough to fire off but not strong enough to to keep a good idle/firing. I would drain all the gas out and use a higher octane gas for a half of tank just to clean the lines and injectors. Fill the tank up 1/2 with high octane and use a bottle of injector cleaner. This should clear up the sluggish problem. Also it's a good idea to change the oil and run an engine cleaner through. Drain a quart of oil, and pour in the engine cleaner. Let engine run for about 5 min for oil to heat up and circulate. Drain oil and change oil filter, put in new oil.

Corolla has been sitting on driveway for year and a half now without being started. What kind of maintenance can I do to get car up and running?

Oil change with oil filter replaced, air filter change, gas would be an issue to you might have water running in the fuel lines when u try to start it, drop some fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank and bring some fresh gas as well. charge the battery well and give it a run. Then check your brake discs or drums for any rust that builds up especially if you live in a winter state with snow coming through.

Good luck.

seems that you might have some water in the gas tank. get some gas dryer and pour in the tank. 2 half pint bottles should do to a half tank of gas. good luck.

1993 VW Cabriolet Fuel pump or Injector problem?

Hi. This is more of a fuel filter issue than a pump issue although, a bad fuel filter will eventually destroy a fuel pump. When the filter is restricted or clogged, this will tend to work the pump harder than normal. this will over heat the pump, therefore, shortening its life span. I recommend replacing the fuel pump and filter and, adding a fuel additive like techtron fuel injector cleaner/water remover as well.

Please rate and have a great day:)

Have you considered that "like it had water in the gas" might be that there was water in the gas?
there is about a gallon or more of "reserve space" at the bottom of the tank below the fuel pickup. Water is heavier than gas and will lay in that space and cannot be removed by running out of gas. I suggest you remove the fuel filter carefully and empty it into a clear glass container and see if there is any water there. (it will be at the bottom) If you find any at all good bet there is much more where that came from!! (don't use dry can't handle large volumes of water. Drop tank and drain it!!
