Removing door panel of manual crank 2000 VW Beetle

Your window crank is held on by a clip at the base of the crank handle. You need a small hook (kind of like a knitting needle) to get behind the base and pull the clip off of the crank.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.

Remove window crank

Remove wire circlip at the backside of the handle. Can usually be pulled loose w/a pair of needlenosed pliers by pushing in slightly on door panel and pull the rounded end of clip w/the pliers (hemostat pliers work great if you have some).

here is a diagram of how to unistall your door panel. please do not forget to rate and comment about your experience with fixya today.

Driver's Side Door
NOTE This procedure is for models with power windows. If equipped with manual windows, refer to the procedure for the Passenger Side Door Panel.

NOTE Do not grasp in grip depression when pulling off grip recess, as there is a strut secured to door trim underneath.

  1. If necessary, make sure you have the radio code.
  2. Make sure the ignition if OFF, then disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Insert a suitable prytool in lower partition between the panel and grip recess.

  4. Unclip the grip recess upward out of door trim. Do NOT reach into grip depression while doing so, to prevent damage to brace.
  5. Press the locking lug against the connector (3 – arrow) and pull it off.

  6. Unscrew the 7 mounting bolts.
  7. Unclip the door trim at the sides using disassembly pliers 3392, or equivalent.
  8. Lift the door trim up out of window recess.
42075_vwca_g0159.gif Unfasten the 7 bolts (arrows). Use pliers to unclip the door trim (1) at the sides, then lift the trim up out of the window recess
  9. Unclip the cable guide using a prytool, pull out the bracket in the direction of the arrow, then unhook the cable hook.

  2. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, noting the following:
    • Before installing door trim, check all clips and replace as necessary, and insert into mounts of door trim.
    • After connecting battery, check that the vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric windows) is operating properly.
    • If the Electronic Control Module (ECM) is subject to low voltage with ignition on, DTC memory and Readiness code must be checked with a scan tool.

Front Driver Side Door Panel

look for any screws near the door handle might be kind of hidden or covered by a removable plastic cover . also start at the bottom corner with a good flat blade screw driver and pry the clips loose starting on bottom corner and across then up .. if all screws are out near door handle you should be able to lift up on the door panel and remove it unless there is a screw in say the window crank if its manuel. electric windows and door locks has a plugin in back you can unplug also to take the whole thing off. thanks Jerry holler if you need more.

1994 vw jetta drivers door window crank inside handle removal(man

You'll see a small ring on the inside of the crank where it meets the panel. That ring holds the crank in place. To remove the handle simple push the ring up and the handle will slide right off. Depending on the position of the crank the ring might have to be pushed up down or sideways. Hope that helps.

97 VW Jetta right rear power window off track

There should be six or seven allen wrench screws around the edge of the door panels. Loosening these releases the retaining clips inside. You will then want to remove the manual window crank if you have one by laying two fingers flat on the door panel and pushing the ring around the base of the crank sideways. You might have to rotate around this as it only pushes one way. Next you will have to remove the two large golden screws directly under the door panels handle. If you have rear door panel speakers you will have to politely pry off the speaker grill with a flat blade screwdriver and remove the speakers four screws and the wire clip from behind the speaker. You will also have to unscrew the door lock post. Then you should be able to lift the door panel up to release the top lip of it from the door.
