This is common you are adding more work load which uses more gas when a/c is on.

You should probably have it looked at by a mechanic. Sounds like your A/C compressor is going bad

When you first crank my Saturn SL1 it idles at 3000 rpm then drops down to 2000 rpm.I've changed the idle sensor & the throdle sensor but it does the same thing. joetaravella@aol.com

that is because the reason the vehicle is idling so high is because there is a vaccum leak somewhere and it is sucking in cold air

Motor wont idel right drops down to 500 rpm and trys to stall but then goes away and will run right and not happen for a wile 1.9 in a 1995 saturn sc2. the car normal idel is 750 rpm.

You might want to check the air intake. find where the mass airflow sensor is at, usually at the end of the tube that brings in the air throught the air filter. Detach and check the butterfly to see if it is clean. You can buy an inexpensive cleaner and use a screwdriver to help keep open the butterfly so that you can clean just inside the butterfly and in front. This should help.

When air con on idle slows down to 500 rpm occasionally app every miniute

This is normal. Your A/C is turned on and off to control pressure in the system, which controls the exact temperature. The RPM drops you see are the times when the electronic clutch is activated to operate the system.

Idle problem when brakes applied

Sounds like you have a vacume leak on your brake booster ....with engine running have someone press the brake while you listen on the driver side by the master cylinder the large vacume line going to the booster behind the master cylinder is most likely the vacume leak...and if so you can get what you need at your local parts store ...

Jeff did you figure this out. I am dealing with the exact same thing currently. Things to look at are Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF), Throttle position Sensor (TPS), Air Idle control valve. I have played with everything but the Air control valve. I tried three different MAF, including a ghost sensor (circuit to match ressitance). I'm going to investigate the air idle control tommorrow. Let me know if this helps or if you get it figured oot
