Question about 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Jeep GC sputtering and turning off

Our Jeep is a 1993 and has been sputtering and cutting off rather randomly the past few days. The check engine light is on and off. We replaced the fuel filter yesterday and it did it again today. My husband said he had to pull over and tried several times to restart it before it would start again (today). The RPM drops and everything, and we have no clue as to what else to do. We are a paycheck-to-paycheck couple with a 4 year old and another one on the way, so we NEED to have a working car, and I'm afraid if we don't figure this out soon we will be out of a vehicle altogether. Thanks for any help!!!!!!

You have to determine if you have a fuel issue or an Ignition issue. This is simple to do. If the truck only cranks over look at the tachometer. It should flicker. Sometimes this test is inconclusive so you may want to check that one spark plug is firing. If no spark you may have a bad crank sensor or coil.

As for fuel you can put a little in the throttle body and if the car starts you now your not getting fuel. Make sure the fuel pump relay is working. Switch it with another of the same.

The relay is in position 3 from you if your standing on the passenger side. standing.

I have a 93 jeep yj also. I just had an issue where the pump feed from this relay was contacting weakly. If you feed 12v strait to the terminal on the left side (firwall side of the relay this will bypass the relay and supply strait to the fuel pump.

Any chance you have a check engine light on ?
If so I would have the computer scanned for trouble codes.

2004 grand cherokee 4.0l one day it will run fine the next day it runs rough rich and when i step on the gas the engine cuts out and spits and sputters

When the "spits and sputters" happen are you in low rpm? Can you "by-pass" the sputtering by accelerating? Has your gas mileage suffered?

I bought a used 1993 jeep gc 4x4 5.2l alarm goes off but have to cut off with key unlock doors. also overhead console doesnt work what could be the problem

Only other way to turn off the factory security system, besides using the key in the door, is with the factory key fob. You can get a key fob and have it programmed to your jeep, by an alarm shop. As for the overhead console, could just be a fuse blown or an electrical short. No way to tell except by checking it out.

My cars engine, battery, and oil lights are on. HELP!

well when the car shuts off or stalls your check engine , oil . battery lights are all going to come on the oil light is telling you there is no oil pressure due to the car not running the battery light is going to come on due to the alternator not pushing any juice because the car is not running and the check engine light also now. check under the car and make sure that your moter did not cut,rip or fray any wires comming from the starter area. this could be a big problem and make lights flicker and the car to run funny.
