SOURCE: Ford sport trac 2003 brake lights are not working

I know this solution will sound weird but put the steering wheel at it's highest position (untilt) and try it..if they come on it's the a wiring harness in the steering column.

SOURCE: 2001 ford explorer sport trac

Just found the answer on another site. Sure enough went out removed the 3 philips head screws in the steering column opened it up and walla a wire connection had pulled itself free. When my son uses my truck he always uses the tilt steering, when I get in I have to readjust it. because of this the wire connection pulled itself out. I simply pushed it back in an blinker and brake light are now working. My husband is now trying to figure a way to secure the wire connection so it doesn't pull itself out again. Hope this helps others, either by saving the cost of a dealership or machanic or from getting rear ended.

I have a 2003 ford explorer sport trac. The brake light are not working. The bulbs are fine. The fuses are fine. The 3rd light works. What could be the problem?

it could be the brake light switch, you should find it under the dash around the area of the brake pedal , a wire may have come off or the switch could be loose & needs to be adjusted & tightened up, also check the wiring around the brake lights for any loose or disconnected wires..........hope this helps......cheers.

Ford explorer 1998 brake lights not working bulbs are fine switch to.can not determine wich fuse in fuse block to check.

On the fuse panel you should have 1 with a picture of a pedal and a bulb, this should be your brake light fuse but just to make sure the best way would be to check all fuses whilst your there
Hope this helps

My 2001 ford explorer sport left and right brake light won't turn on, but the one on top does. I aready replaced the brake switch and checked all the fuses. can i do anything else that to fix the problem

Obviously it is not the break switch! You have a broken wire to the break lights. Probably at a hinge gate wiring flex point. Peel back outer casing and inspect for broken wire. Be careful, don't cot any good wires.

Stop lights on my 2001 explorer sport

IF you have NO brake light in the rear and NO HIGH mount stop light. You may have a BAD Brake light switch this located at the top of the brake pedal under the dash. Replace switch and that should solve your problem. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
