Use Reset button on Right of Steering wheel: To reset CHANGE OIL SOON/OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message on the Message Center, press the SET UP control to access the System Check mode. Press and release the RESET button to display “OIL LIFE % HOLD RESET NEW” is displayed. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds until “IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET” is displayed. Press and hold RESET button until “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%” is displayed.

Good luck and keep me posted and i'll try to explain again in a different way. Harder to tell then to show how to do it.

Why is my oil life percent is 9 and can I drive still or I have to change engine oil soon for the mercury mountaineer 2006

Regular maintenance is needed for oil changes. If your oil level is dropping you need to keep it up to operating level but you do need to find out why it is burning or losing oil. If your oil is black then it needs to be changed regardless of the miles on it.

2003 mountianeer stats hard after the oil was changed

Nothing to do with the type of oil your using

You need to get caught up on your preventative
maintenance

Spark Plugs every 3 years
MAF Cleaning once or twice a year
Replace front O2 Sensors at 100,000 miles
Gas Filter
Check COP Ignition Coils for misfires
Air Filter
Check Fuel Pressure with a gauge & scan tool
A battery over 4 or 5 years old could also be a problem

2000 mercury mountianeer o/d light flashing

this OD light flashing means a fault has has been sensed by the transmission control module in the electronic transmission controls, to see what this fault might be have the transmission tested for electronic fault codes that are stored when this OD light flashes, many times this code will be for a transmission slipping issue, u will not fell this most times, if the transmission has more than 60,000 miles on it have the transmission fluid and filter changed and erase the codes, they may not come back

Wher is the fuel filter located on a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer and how do you change it?

Mercury Mountaineer fuel filter is located in front and on top of fuel tank behind two shields. . When you look just behind the front passenger side tire you will see the first shield. Behind that is the second. U will need to buy the fuel line release tools to get the lines off the filter, any good auto parts store will have these.
