Question about Volvo S80

1 Answer

Car won't go

In my S80 the message says "low engine performance" . The engine shakes and the car will barely go 5-10 mph. I think I got bad gas - could this be the problem? Mechanic replaced the throttle (ETA) and it worked for a few days then the same problem happened again. I am wondering what the standard protocol should be when a customer states they think they got contaminated gas.

It shakes when gas is applied at speeds above 60 mph-more on some roads than others, and sometimes when accelerating even at lower speeds

I am currently having the same problem and suspect the engine mounts. I'll be checking them this weekend.

At 40 mph the car starts to shake. It last to 5o

I have this same car with exactly the same problem. Begins shaking at 40mph and stops shaking as soon as you let off the gas, but then begins again as soon as you press on the gas and smooths out as you get over 50. And the shaking is not felt through the steering wheel. Solution: Replace the transmission mounts. There are two of them, one on each side mounted on the frame right next to the shock strut. There is also a front and rear engine mount, but I replaced the two as described and shaking is gone.

1998 toyota corolla shakes before 2 rpm, check engine lights up

Not sure what is causing it, but it sounds like you're running on 3 cyllinders. Check plugs, wires, timing . timing belt may have jumped, bad injector, low fuel pressure.

1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara Vibrate/shake at 55-70 mph

Lift the back of your car. With a stable rest and with the two hind wheels hanging, run your car up to the speed where you experienced vibration. have someone take care of the throttle and shifting while you observe the transmission shaft. You may have an imbalanced shaft.
