check the abs control unit. there is 2 lines that from the master cylinder that feed it,and there is 4 lines that come off it. 2 of the lines go to the front brakes and the other 2 go to the back brakes
when you state it wouldn't crank, do you mean the starter won't engage or that it just spins over and doesn't start? if no gauges or no starter engagement, then check the battery, battery connections,and the starter for excessive amperage draw. if the starter spins and the engine won't start, then check crankshaft position sensor first. the crank sensor is a more common failure than the distributor or any of the other things you mentioned.
if its like my 95. the only tool that would work was a large brass hammer. the 95 is pressed in. first check the auto parts stores for the correct ball joint puller. if that doesn't work get ready to start swingin. don't hit the fender.
