You're more likely have to remove the transmission. Loosen one motor mount use an engine hoist to hold the engine up in order to remove the plan.

If you have front end problems like an pitman arm or idle arm needs to be replaced, it may not got into 4 wheel drive. Go to the nearest muffler shop or mechanic to have them lift up your truck to see if something needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: 1999 gmc jimmy w 4.3 v6. cannot find oil filter

look under the front of your blazer, just below the bumper, and you will see a little access door in the plastic guard. Open this door, and you will find your oil filter.

SOURCE: how do I change the transmission fluid and filter?

Its not really that hard. You just need to take your time and a very large pan. Your filter is just in side the trans pan. The pan will have to be dropped. A ratchet and socket will make short work of it. Just undo the bolts on the trans pan( undo 3 corners and the bolts on that side, allowing the pan to lean to drain some of the fluid). Hold pan steady, and undo remaining bolts. Lower the pan. Now its time to scrape the old gasket off the pan and trans case. Please clean to metal, don't want leaks. Remove the old filter, and replace with the new one. Install the gasket to the pan, and bolt the pan back into place. If you put 4 bolts from around the pan, makes it easier to put the rest in. Now to refill the trans, you need a funnel and add the fluid ant the dipstick. Bring it back up to level. This job will take a beginner about one hour. Hope this helps

I need to replace oil pump on 1999 gmc jimmy 4.3 can this be done without removing engine. give details.

First off i would just like to say ......... you poor poor person... if it is the 2wd version yes you will have to remove the engine. If it is 4wd it is a pain in the **** but it can be done i just did it on mine recently. If it is the 4wd version you will need to take out the front differntial housing and remove the motor mounts to raise up the engine with a jack. So you will have to remove the wheels and such to do all of this. You will need a pickle fork and a 36mm axel nut remover socket. After you take out the differential housing you will need to remove the sway bar otherwise the oil pan wont have the clearance to come out. It is a total pain to do. But with patience it can be done. Good luck i hope you get it done.Oh and you will have to take the starter off also which is no biggie~
