Question about Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

1994 Buick has good fuel pressure 40lbs, change out fuel filter, cranksensor missing one pulse that is fixed, changed out ignition module pulses in no pulses out to ECM, Now the car will start but will only run for a few minutes then it just quits like you turned the key off. Could this be cam sensor or ECM that is failing. Sometimes the car will start and be fine then the next day it will start and then shut off.

The pressure is 40lbs at the schrader valve, the Haines manual I have says it is enough pressure.Did you look at the rest of the information posted?

sounds like the security system, maybe a defective key.

Why my 94 Astro van will not fire

this generation of gm vehicles is easy to troubleshoot. the engine needs 3 things to run: compression, fuel, and spark. since you mention fire, i assume you have no spark.

disconnect any random spark plug wire and connect the end to a hei spark tester. crank engine and observe for spark. if you have no spark, disconnect the center terminal of the distributor cap and use the hei tester in the same manner. spark means cap and rotor bad or bad plug wireset. no spark means make more checks.

check for battery voltage and good ground on distributor. check for open or shorted ignition module or ignition coil windings. if power and ground is present and ignition coil tests ok, check for ignition pulses at coil primary. if you have no ignition pulses feeding the coil, change the distributor.

with that generation of vehicle, the ignition system will operate without help from the computer. don't even troubleshoot the guts of the distributor, if you change the cap, rotor, and anything else, it will be the same price as a remanufactured distributor, and might not fix the problem. if you troubleshoot a low volrage related issue (no pulses, shorted or open circuit, unstable timing, etc), change the whole thing.

1998 buick park avenue ultra changed fuel pump fuses good relay good pump not working does pcm control this function if so is there a test i can perform to check

PCM stands for Pulse Code Modulation. Pulse-code modulation (PCM) is a method used to digitally represent sampled analog signals. It is the standard form for fuel injection computers. A PCM stream is a digital representation of an analog signal, in which the magnitude of the analog signal is sampled regularly at uniform intervals, with each sample being quantized to the nearest value within a range of digital steps. So no, Pulse Code Modulation does not control the fuel pump. The Fuel Injection Computer does control the fuel pump via a relay. Bad connection between the fuel pump relay and the in-tank fuel pump, or a bad fuel pump.

My 1994 toyota camery wont start it was acting like a fuel problem so i changed the fuel pump and filter but same problem could this problem possibly be the ignition module or map sensor

Before you waste anymore time and money, take it to a repair shop and find out if you have fuel pressure, spark, injector pulse, ect.

96 dodge caravan wont fire on cylinder 1 or 4. coil pack is good. fuses are good. just no spark

check pulse on coil pack conector with noid light ,remember cylinders 1&4 fire at the same time. check pulse while cranking. most likely you have a bad computor or a broken wire

Tahoe 97 Fuel problems

Crank sensor has to be bad,or the ignition module.Remove the ignition module and have it checked at the parts store. If it checks bad, replace it,if it checks good replace the cranksensor. The cam sensor, cranksesor, and the control module control injector pulse, and coil spark.I would point more to the ignition module. But I have known the crankshaft sensor to do this also.I hope this was helpful,if so,let us know, thanks, and good luck.

Throttle body injectors not fiering but there is fuel pressure

the injectors are fired thru the engine cotrol module but it gets its signal to fire from the pick-up located inside the distributor if you are loosing injector pulse only the ignition module is bad if you are also loosing spark when you loose injector pulse your pick up is causing the problem if you replace the pick-up i recomend you change the ignition module when doing so because they work together and you have to remove the distributor to change the pick-up

Have a 1994 chevy s10 blazer with a vortec 4.3 changed fuel filter, fuel pump, plugs, wires, and module in the disturbuter.still will not start

You need to check and make sure you have fuel pressure, then check for spark at ignition, if those check out then check for pulse width at the injectors. That basically is the electrical signal which tells injectors to spray fuel. Use what is called a Noid light on injector pulse width check. that will eliminate all possibilities other than internal issues with engine. I.E. broken cam, broken timing components, obviously if all I mentioned checks out then run compression test. Good Luck
