Question about 2006 Suzuki Reno

1 Answer

My 06 Suzuki Reno threw me out of drive this morning. I was pulling in a parking lot and the car would not accelerate. I looked down and the gear shift showed D but the light on the dash showed N; then I threw the car into park and then tried to put it in drive again and the light on the dash started blinking with all the symbols lit at the same time. After another minute I was able to put it in drive and move again. I am just wondering what happened?

Sensor could be off adjustment or linkage has moved slightly. Check tranny fluid when hot, could be down a bit.

SOURCE: chrysler 300c '06 can't get it out of park

This is a very common problem on the Chrysler LX Platform vehicles from 2005 - 2007. It's a broken Park Lock-Out Mechanism made from cheap plastic. Chrysler will only replace the whole shifter because they don't make just the part you need and it will cost you some bucks if you are out of warranty.

There is a way to over-ride the Lockout and you can purchase just the replacement piece from the only company that makes them in 100% aluminum billet.....BilletTechnology.com. Go to 300cforums.com or lxf.com and search for "pink thingy" or park lock-out mechanism. Tons of information as well as DIY threads with pictures and even YouTube demos.

first thing i would do would be to go down to your local parts house and get a chilton or haynes manual and they will give you a step by step walk threw of pulling your motor. when its all said and done you'll see that it aint that hard of a job. that is if ya have a clean place to do the work.
