Question about 1998 GMC Sierra

2000 Sierra Does Not blow air out of the dash vents

The A/C is cold and does blow out the vents as a trickle. When you change the desired location, the air does not blow in any direction. Is this a possible vacuum leak? Is there an AC vacuum schematic?

Thanks for the quick response! Another question: if the controls aren't working how can I check the actuator to see if it's working?

You can take the actuator off ( 3-screws and elc.plug ) and use a 12-volt sourse to see if that works. You can also chk. the selector by useing a test light at the plug and turning the selector with key in on position.

Chk. to see if the motor for the blend doors is working, its located at the left end of the heater box above gas peddel. If that is working than chanses are its the selector controls, there is no vacume its all electronic.

Air blowing

Usually a sign you have a blend door that is stuck, or the controller has failed. The blend doors use small electric motors controlled by the main controller on the dash.

2000 gmc sierra 1500 blow hot air but the air is in the dash not coming out of the vents, why?

Usually a sign of a faulty blend door.
The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and out thru the vents.

When the ac is on the driver side vent blow only hot air and the passenger vent blow the cold ac air

Usually a sign of low freon or a blend door problem. If the system is full of freon, I would check the blend doors under the dash.

I have no hot air the air blows out the heater is getting hot my dashbord controls work i have antifreeze wat cod be the problem is there a vent switch to change cold from hot where is it located

The part that controls the temperature of the air coming out the dash vents is called the blend door and the blend door actuator motor, this door is operated by a small specialized electric motor that moves this door back and forth between the heater core and the AC core to give the desired temperature of air at the vents. The common issue here is that this plastic door warps and begins to stick, this destroys the tiny motor drive that operates due to overloading. To repair the problem requires the entire dash be removed from the van, a huge job, the door is located inside the air ducting under the dash.

99 GMC Sierra 4.8 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive new body style ac does not blow cold air from the front vents on the dash? Still get some cold air from bottom by floor vents,

if both vents are blowing air in general then you may need to get your air conditioner recharged, but if the front vents aren't blowing at all then you may just have a jammed vent flap and you can fix that from under the hood next to the blower motor. check you rowners maual for the exact location

2002 gmc sierra blows Hot air thru ac vent on drivers side. Whats going on? Setings are set for cold air and we are getting cold air thru vents on passenger side.

We have this fairly often on our gm fleet with dual air controls. Replace the actuator and you will be good again (for a while!)

2000 gmc sierra 1500 5.3 v8. a/c heater control problem

your heat/cool and vent selection options are controlled by engine vacuum through small clear tubes attached to the rear of your climate control interface. Other vehicles have small steel pull wires that operate the desired changes. You might try removing the trim and any fasteners affiliated with the interface/console. GENTLY pull outward and look to see if any of these tubes are pulled off or cut/damaged. Did anyone recently install a new stereo in the vehicle? If so, the vacuum tubing and or pull wires that change your outlets could have been damaged when the stereo unit was pushed into place. Hope this helps

Blower fan not working correctly

I had the same problem. There is a filter down under the passenger side of the dash that clogs up and stops the air from blowing out any of the vents. I removed the filter completely and now it blows like new.
