1999 Dodge Ram shuts off while driving, Odometer reads No Bus

We didn't have any problems with this truck until the summer began. The truck just shuts off while driving down the road and the odometer reads no bus. After about 30 minutes it will restart. We have replaced a sensor and the fuel pump. We have been told when moving the wires to the computer it will turn off, so it is thought we need a new computer. In my research I have read that the PCM may not have enough air to cool it in the summer heat with the air conditioner running. How would I go about cooling the PCM to see if this works before spending a ton of money on a new computer?

My 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 stalls out while I'm driving and a No Bus signal comes on the odometer reading. It starts again usually after a few minutes but how can I fix this?

i had a jeep that flashed that and wouldnt start i ended up replacing the pcm(engine computer) after checking the wire harness and connection if im not mistaken the pcm is in a place where it can be exposed to water so it might have water damage hard to tell without the truck but the bus signal is a state of health from the computer like a self diagnostic of it so without the signal it wont run hope this helps good luck

1999 dodge durango stalls and a code that reads (no bus)shows up in the odometer what does this mean

try unplugging the crank sensor that is located in the bell housing of the transmission,on top of the bell housing, when these go bad they pull everything to ground including the bus communication,if you unplug it and the message goes away, replace the sensor, hope this helps

2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9 4x4 motor turns over but will not start. ran fine the day before. the odometer reads no bus, check engine light comes on and gas gauge does not read now what could be causing...

First check is a look in the fuse box for a blown or loose fuse and also push all relays into their sockets. The check engine light shows that a trouble code is registered in the computer. Rent a scanner, read out any code(s), and pursue to repairs.

Odometer reads no bus

check bulkhead connecter for corrosion, cluster is your body controll module, losing signal to fuel pump module , and pcm, thios is a communication issue, volt meter wil help, back probe diagnostic connecter, pin 7, white wire, to see if signal is there, GOOD LUCK RDJRP

No Bus Error

All the modules are connected together to communicate with each other via the PCI bus. It is possible that one of the modules is pulling the bus down.Since the vehicle won't start it could be any one of the modules. It will be a process of elimination to find the faulty one by disconnecting them one at a time. Here are a few, powertrain control module (the one you replaced) Instrument cluster, overhead console, anti-lock brakes, airbag. Since the cluster unplugged wont read anymore, just try to start the vehicle to see if that was the one. Otherwise see if the odometer message of "no bus" goes away after each one is unplugged.

1999 dodge durango 5.9 cranks but wont start no fire to coil, auto shut relay buzzes, has no BUS code on odometer,

It is your computer. I had this recently as well. No Bus means no connection to the on board computer. There is a company in Florida that repairs these computers, so don't get suckered in by the dealership for 750-1000.

2001 dodge ram shuts off intermittently, restart ok no mil.

You are experiencing what is called a CCD Bus short in the instrument cluster circuit board. (chrysler calls it the "chrysler collision detection buss) it is how all of the controllers and modules communicate on that vehicle. Get a new one and you should have no problems, and used ones are a HUGE gamble. Other vehicles that are extremely bad for this are, caravans, neons, sebring coupe/conv, strates, and cirrus. It will also cause a no start condition that is EXTREMELY hard to catch.

Truck shuts off anfd restart right away, no trouble code.

First thing I'd check would be battery cables, at both ends for clean, good & tight. Does it ever do it while driving at highway speeds or just at slow speeds? Wet out, dry out?
