Check the throttle body spring, it may need lubricating

follow the throttle cable from the bulkhead, ( where it comes thru the bodywork in engine compartment ), it leads to the side of the engine itself, there you will see where it attatches itself to the return valve of the throttle housing, you will also see a large return spring, this may need lubricated, or adjusted

no need to remove engine cath, and luricate with spray grease, you may have to depress the throttle peadl a few times tho,

the good news is cath, that its not your clutch......it definately sounds like a throttle problem......i need to do some more investigation, but i will get back to you..A.S.A.P................

Revs high when i change gear

Is it possible the clutch pedal is interfering with the throttle? Start the engine in neutral and allow it to idle. Press only the clutch pedal down and see if this increase the engine speed. If it does speed up the engine and slows back down when you release the clutch then somehow this operation is where your fault lies. If it doesn't alter the idle speed, then rev your engine and release the throttle to see if it returns to idle immediately. If it is slow to return to idle then your throttle cable could be sticking. This means when you change gear lifting off the throttle has little effect and depressing the clutch to change gear causes the engine to race as the throttle is still partially open.

2006 Suzuki forenza. sometimes it takes a long time turning engine over to start. when it does start, the tach revs up to 4 and won't slow down. when you shift the car into gear, it shuts off. when it is...

bad idle, and surges.
gets better, does that mean it idles at the correct regulated RPM
HOT? 800.?
and does the engine coolant hit 180 to 200 F and hold there.?
Sounds like the ISC valve is stuck open, clean it.
ISC means, idle speed controls.
also air leaks, vacuum leaks can do this on speed density, EFI.
Im not sure which EFI you have, too lazy to look that up.

which engine do you have, and what country, ?
as a mech, i open hood and look, on the net , i cant do that.
so.... no real help

Vw golf mark4 over revs

Hello James,

If the engine revs up with no increase in speed, your clutch is slipping. Probably the reason the car was sold!

Acura intergra Stickshit picks up speed slowly.

sounds like a worn clutch, when you are taking off is the engine reving up and the car is moving slow on take offs? if so then the clutch is worn out and needs replacing.

Hi guys, have citroen relay '08' plate 2.2 hdi. is the clutch hydrolic or cable? also struggling to get reverse gear, all others no problem at all. any ideas?

It is hydraulic. Are you engaging 2nd gear prior to reverse to slow gear motion and ease reverse effort? Is the engine idle speed with specs?

200 ford focus no air conditioning and when turned on engine revs up and down

Sounds like you are low on Freon. The engine has a separate RPM control which is used to increase the speed anticipating the A/C clutch to engage. When the A/C clutch does not engage, the engine overspeeds. The system then slows down and you get the variation you describe.

Service the A/C. If you try to do it yourself you will be alright if there is still a little Freon in the pipes. But if you do not have any pressure, th leak will need to be found and fixed. Then borrow a big Vacuum pump and evacuate the system. Best performance is a pressure between the high and low limit switch cutouts.

Vw polo 1997 999cc often idles eratically

First- lets change engine coolant sensor/ECT/ and you will be very surprised.Black head with four pins.Be very carefull when change it because there is pressure into coolant system.First-open slowly the cap of engine coolant tank. Then tighten again to safe coolant.Unplug the sensor, remove the pin and pull out the sensor. If the "O"ring/old one/ is still inside-take it out.
