Usually the battery in the key-fob, if not, then check the fuse or relay in the fuse box

My remote lock stoped working. I can unlock doors from inside but cant lock them. It's a 1998 Cherokee Sport

You do not specify, whether you ability to lock the doors is inside the vehicle, or with a remote. Are you the only one in the vehicle most times it is used? Is there another "rocker" switch, on another door to see if it will lock a door. In most cases (not all) it is a simple matter of replacing the switch. Automatic lock, & automatic windows, operate on the technical term of a 'momentary' contact switch. As long as it is being pressed, it is sending current, into the lock or window to make it operate the device in the direction you want. If the other side of the switch fails.......nothing. I think this is where you should start. Napa, is a good source for "look alike" replacement switches.

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8. A couple days ago after stoping to get gas I started it up and the interior lights came on and power windows would no longer work. Later I noticed the remote...

I had the same problem recently. The dealership diagnosed the pblm as a corroded wire in the door frame that is responsible for all power windows and power locks locks. A simple rewiring and resoldering (approx. 150 CAD$) fixed the problem.
