Dear friend-your explenation tells me that you have a crank angle sensor that is intermittend, might have a hairline crack and breaks away from time to time,i suggest you run it by a dealership for a diagnostic check you can repair afterwords

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Timing belt replacement interval

My rule of thumb for Timing belts:
replace at 60,000 miles, and every 40,000 miles thereafter. Having said that, I often let
cars go until the timing belt starts showing signs of wear (usually every 50K - 75K miles)

But www.autozone.com (register free at www.autozone.com) is recommending for your
car driving in "severe driving conditions" (aka normal stop-start driving) that your 2000 Sonata
have:
60,000 miles - replace
90,000 miles - inspect for wear
120,000 miles - replace
150,000 miles - inspect for wear

The 155 page owners manual (I found one at the link below - you may prefer to try Hyundai)
makes no mention of the timing belt at all.

Faulty sensors in my hyundai accent.

Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

The car accelerates without being given any gas, engine is idling high Also, it periodically turns over and won't start.I had the transmission intake replaced 5 months ago.

sounds like a vacum leaks, listen for it youll hear a hiss,,,or a bad iac valve, idle air control, that will cause a hard start and high idle and running by itself,

If you have the radio code.Disconnect the battery. Then leave it disconnected for an hour.Reconnect and try. This process will reset ur throttle idle sensor.Hope that helps.
