Geting no spark to cylenders 5 & 6

Hi there:
  • Check the spark plug wires and the coil wire, ensure that the spark plug wires are securely attached to the spark plugs and the distributor cap.

  • Check the wire routing in order to ensure that cross-firing is not occurring. If the misfire occurs when the weather is damp, the problem could be due to worn plug wires.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

How do you change the spark plugs on a 1993 oldsmobile cutlass supreme

Your Cutlass is either the 3.1 V6 or the 3400 Dual Overhead 24 valve V6...each motor is clearly marked on top of the engine plenum. If you have not changed the plugs yet...I recomend you do that at the same time...you can purchase inexpensive replacement wires with a limited lifetime warranty...be sure to compare. No special tools needed to switch out the plug wires...I highly recomend using plug wire boot lube grease to assure good clean water proof contact...also helps ease od service later as needed. The lube is only a couple of bucks...Be sure to ask the parts person the ignition firing order...this will help to confirm proper installation...Remove only one wire at a time...this insures you maintain the current firing order...remove and replace only ONE wire at a time...disconnect from the plug, then trace to the coil pack, and disconnect...replace with similar length wire using lube grease on both end connections...Plug wires and plugs should be replaced on your Cutlass OBD I motor by 100,000 miles...they can wear out and leak or misfire prior to that...Your motor is also sensitive to a clean Idle Air Control valve...about $35. or try to clean the old one and mounting hole with injector spray cleaner and wipe out...Also check for any vacumn leaks while changing wires...the old rubber lines and connections crack and leak with age...The Cutlass is usally a reliable long term car...Good luck with yours. Hope this helps.

Need to know the firing order of sparkplug wires on a 1995 olsmobile supreme cutlass

For the 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme:
I do not know if you have the 3.1L V6 or the 3.4L DOHC V6; however below are included below:

For the 3.1L V6:
Firing Order:
1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:
........(back)........
|...1......3.......5...|
..........................
|...2.......4......6...|
.........(front)
Ignition Coil Connections:
...........(back)
.|5..2.|..|.3..6.|..|.4..1.|
...........(front)

For the 3.4L DOHC V6:
Firing Order:
1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:
.........(back).........
|...1.......3.......5...|
...........................
|...2.......4.......6...|
..........(front)
Ignition Coils Connections:
..........(back)
.|.1..4.|.|.3..6.|.|.2..5.| (Honestly: I'm thinking it should be 6..3 not 3..6)
..........(front)

Can't get 1992 Cutlass Siera to start,it tries to start, only for a second, and kind of backfires. Already replaced coil packs, plug wires, oxygen sensor, still does the same thing.I believe the engine has...

The mechanic should check on the ignition system first . Check the ignition switch, the ignition coil , the spark plug , the spark plug cable , the distributor assembly and the wires and the fuses.Check if there are worn out or destroyed then replace it. And then set the distributor timing mark and the firing order of the spark plug which is 1,3,4,2.These 1,3,4,2 are the number of the spark plug connecting to the distributor assembly. Then try to start the engine .The cause of the engine back fire is ignition timing not in order.

1993 cutlass v6 3.2 fuel injected. missing very bad I just replaced all three coils wires and plugs

check your engine position sensors after you verify you have the plug wires in proper firing order. cam and crank position sensors play critical roles in todays electronic ignition vehicles.

Where can I find a spark plug wiring diagram for 1997 3.1l engine

Normally the firing order will be stamped on the top of the intake manifold also the number one plug will be the front one on the drivers side of the car. On the top of the distributor cap you should see a number one that is where the number one plug wire goes follow the firing order on the manifold and go clock wise on the distributor cap
