HOW THE COOLANT SISTEM FLOW ON 2001 FORD WINDSTAR. I TRY TO FLUSH THE RADIATOR BY REMOVING THE DRAIN PLUG BUT THE WATER WONT DRAIN, I REMOVE THE THERMOSTAT THINKING IT'S COULD BE THE PROBLEM BUT...

Remove drain plug from radiator by unscrewing, if this does the trick you are on your way if not, take a tooth pick and pick at the hole. if this fails and you still need to drain radiator, let it sit until it cools down then remove lower radiator hose..This will remove all coolant from block and radiator.

43@2003 Chevy Malibu V6 How to drain coolant from radiater. I don't know what procedure to use to open the plastic drain thing at the bottom of the radiater to get the coolant to drain and then close it...

Place a drain pan under the petcock.
Slowly turn the petcock CCW
Be careful to avoid contact with the flow if the car is hot
Open the petcock several turns until the flow is constant.
Remove the radiator cap to allow air into the radiator
once flow has stopped, close the petcock.

Is there anything more we can help you with?

What is new with the 2008 Malibu cooling system, how do you drain and fill the coolant?

Your Malibu is too new to change the coolant already The coolant is good for 5 years or 150.000 miles, which ever comes first. If oyu are going to replace the coolant, make sure it's the orange coolant and premixed 50/50 water/coolant before refilling the radiator.

To drain the coolant, just disconnect the lower radiator hose. most radiators now don't have a drain plug like the old days. The issue was that the drain plug was breaking since it's plastic or the O rings would break causing fluid to leak from the radiator.

once the radiator is drained, simple reattached the lower radiator hose and refill the system. The other way would be to run the engine till the thermostat opens up and the rest of the coolant in the engine block will make it's way out, but at most you should be fine on to replacing the coolant at the radiator only and then run the engine to ensure you have got all the air out of the system.

Just make sure you replace the radiator cap first before you shut the engine down. It you do shut the engine down first before you place the cap back on, the coolant will blow out.

Thank you for using fixy and be safe.

I was trying to do a flush on my radiator.was able to locate the drain plug on the right side front of radiator. But can't seem to find the block plugs near the engine. Can someone please help me!

There are no plugs in the block. You need to leave the radiator plug open and run the engine with a water hose running in the radiator. Keep a close eye on the temp. This will clean the system as good as you can with out major work. Good Luck

I dont know how to remove the radiator drain plug on a 98 chevy malibu it looks like a rubber plug I dont want to break it help.

That may not be a drain plug. Look for a large rubber hose going into the bottom of the radiator disconnect that hose have a bucket or something available to catch your fluids so you may re-use it. make sure the car has been off for a few hours very hot and dangerous coolant will come out of radiator.
