Question about 2000 Nissan Xterra

2 Answers

My nissan xterra was running but was sputtering. I stopped to put gas in it, when I was leaving it just cut off and wouldnt start again. The engine was turning over but wouldnt start. The mechanic said spark wasn't getting to the distributor. what part do I need to buy instead of buying an entire assembly. Would that be the ignition core or ignition module? He just said the distributor was bad and needed a new one. please help! I cant afford it and I need to get to my home town, my aunt is dieing from cancer, with only hours and days left, not weeks. She is 58 and has been fighting this for 6 years 8 months. Thanks a lot.

It sounds like your cam sensor. You need to find out if it has a code P0340 and/or P0345 first before you buy anything. You also need to know if there is injector pulse. Simply plug in a noid light in one of your injector connectors and spin the engine over to see if it will flash.

What's your problem? My 2004 Nissan Xterra 4 x 4 is constantly sputtering, did the gas treatment deal and still sputters and to top it off the service engine light is on. HELP

Have the computer scanned for codes. Once you know the codes ou will have a much better idea of what the problem is. Three option for this 1 buy a code reader for about $50 and pull cos yourself 2 call you local parts store to see if the can pull codes for you. 3. Bring the vehicle to your local garage or dealer and have them do a diag. There is usua Ly a set fee for this. Once you have the code or codes post them and I'll see what I can do to help. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using!

My 2002 xterra has started running hot..code po 217 came on..after gas cap was put on wrong..cleared code put gas cap on right then fine for 2 weeks..when idleing heat gauge rises soon as i rev...

p0217 is coolant over temperature. the fan clutch may be slipping or the thermostat is bad. changing the thermostat would probably be the easiest and most inexpensive fix to determine the problem.

Sputtering engine

Change the fuel filter and try running 91 octane and add some fuel injector cleaner through the fuel system. Try to more hyway runs rather then stop and go for a while and see if that will clear up the problem. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

Ran out of gas wont start now

if its petrol engine bang bottom of fuel tank while some one else cranks vehicle over if it starts good just pump jammed if it dont buzz to life and you cant hear fuel pump buzzing ceck for power to it if thats there replace pump. running out of fuel kills electric fuel pumps internally in petrol tanks.

if its diesel you must bleed fuel system taking extreme care if you un do lines some very high pressure
