Question about GMC Sierra 1500

2 Answers

My 93 gmc sierra would start but when i put it in gear and tried to accelerate it would act like it wasn't getting gas. I used a diagnostic tool and it said there was a problem with the map sensor i replaced it and now the truck wont start at all. so we took apart the throttle body and found that the fuel pressure was really low but its not the fuel filter. Is there anything else I could do besides replacing the fuel pump.

It sounds like your fuel pump has failed. Use a fuel pressure gauge to see what your pressure is now. Once you've replaced the fuel pump you will see the difference in the pressure and it will repair your concern.

Is this truck carbuerated or throttle-body injected? If carbuerated, I'd put in a new carb kit...and be sure to replace the accelerator pump. Ethanol in gas today wreaks all sorts of havoc with older vehicles because the rubber and plastic parts manufactured back then were not designed to deal with the problems caused by ethanol. After rebuilding your carb, buy a product called Seafoam and add it to your gas tank at the rate of 1oz per gallon of gas. It will partially offset the problems caused by ethanol.

Gas gague not working in 93 gmc sierra

The fuel level gage sending unit is defective, very common problem. The sending unit comes with a new fuel pump and is referred to as a module, also make darn sure you replace the fuel pump connector at the fuel tank, solder and shrink tube the new connector on, DO NOT USE CRIMP CONNECTORS.

My 93 gmc acts like it wants to down shift when it doesnt need to and it started shifting hard

Start checking the fluid level and the color and make sure its not burnt.and this problem continues to appear then drain your old fluid and put in a new one and also try to put in a new filter. Because any problem with a filter or fluid would really affect your transmission Shifting and performance. Good luck

It may be the transmission input shaft bushing or bearing, located in the rear of the engine crankshaft, in front of the clutch assembly. If the bushing or bearing is dry (needs to be greased), the input shaft will still try to turn with the engine rpm, even though the clutch pedal is depressed. Also, the clutch disc may not be fully releasing, which could possibly be corrected by adjusting the clutch pedal linkage. good luck

Sounds like the fuel supply is inadequate. Check for a plugged fuel filter, or possibly the fuel pump is losing pressure. I had a 93 Chevy V6 that acted the same way, and after checking everything else I replaced the fuel pump, which solved the problem.
