A few days ago, it was a blue puff when I first started it for the day. Now it continues, although not as bad as when it is first started for the day, but it does continue to burn blue as I am driving.
    Thank you for your help,
    Cheryl

It is a 2002, only summer driven, serviced annually,
is scheduled for a brake job next week as the brake light has just light up on the dash. I almost wondered if it had something to do with the brakes and or brake fluid levels or is the timing just a coinsidence. The car has 60,040 kms. and has been babied since since day one. Only repairs to date have been headlamp bulb replacements, new battery, oil changes and new pressurized coolant cap.

Blue exhaust after quick rev & let off, and at first start of the day, or after cooled off?

Get a service done on it and pay special attention to any and all PCV, items, such as PCV valve, & filter. A compression test may be a good idea to confirm condition of engine. What year, make , model & engine, are we talking about here.

My guess is something minor, if anything but a good mechanic at service shop should be able to shine a light on situation. I wouldn't panic yet. May just need fresh oil & filter & some running down the highway.

After sitting for a day or two, it nblows dark blue/black smoke for a few seconds when starting

nothing to worry about, valve seals leaking alittle, when you shut it down a little oil leaks into the cyclinders, when you start it up again the oil is buring off the pistons,,,,hope this explains your trouble???

My 2005 Cadillac CTS uses a quart Oil between oil changes, what could be the reason. There is no pooling under the motor and buring smell or smoke and the car only has 68000 miles

It's normal for most cars with significant miles on there to use oil, you won't see or smell the oil being used because some of it gets burned internally between the piston and the piston rings, I wouldn't worry about it until you start seeing blue smoke coming out of your exhaust while the engine is running, in that case your piston rings are worn aqnd it's tome for a new or rebuilt motor.

Emission light stays on

Hi

very common fault, one of 2 faults

Either the Air mass sensor or MAF sensor as it is known o the Lambda or oxygen sensor, most likely the latter one. Easy job to do on this car unbolt from exhaust and 1 wired clip. here is one on ebay >> http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=porsche+boxter+oxygen+sensor+&_cqr=true&_nkwusc=porshe+boxter+oxygen+sensor&_rdc=1

Hope this helps

Starting using oil abt 125K miles, abt 1 qt per 1200 mi. Dealer recommended repl PCV valve and hoses which we did. Repair had no effect and car now using abt 1 qt every 800 miles. No leaks detected.

is the car smoking blue or is the oil leeking out ?

if the is consuming oil by buring it while driving the faults are either :

Valve seats / Burnt valves
Piston Rings
or sump compression which can force oil into the combustion chamber causing it to burn it and expel the burnt oil via the exhaust system.

Either way, its going to pretty expensive on a 2002 5 series.

Lot of blue smoke out of exhaust when starting up and does not sound right

Your buring oil. Bring vehicle to a repair shop this way they can determine whetherits a pcvor transmission vacuum switch thats causing it or is it engine mechanical.

Came to a stop and all of a sudden the car started to hesitate and when we parked it blue grayish smoke started coming out of the back end.

Blue smoke, if its coming from your exhaust pipe, is from oil burning. Most likely from the engine, so check the oil. A broken piston ring, or bad valve guides can do this.

Audi 1.8T sport Auto (2001) heavy smoke and engine buring smell

The engine could be shot, oil is being burnt off by the actions of being sucked into the bores via worn piston rings then ejected out of the exhaust

If you sent the car in for an MOT and a Service I would ask the garage what they did to it as the car would have failed on its emissions test if that much oil was coming out .

It could have been a fault on the oil pump or lack of oil in the first instance and maybe an overfill on the service

You paid your money now go back for redress
