Ours has a red cap, located on the transmission case under the brake master cylinder. You unscrew the cap use a funnel with a long hose and fill to the top.

Lost part of my post. I'll try again.

There is a plug just behind and above the oil drain plug. This plug takes a 7/16" wrench and is 90 degrees to the oil drain plug, it's about 3" above the transmission pan. Remove the plug and add fluid until it comes out of the plug. The fluid goes into the hole on top of the trans, which has a red cap about 2" in diameter screwed into it.

There is no dip stick for the trans. You have to use the plugged hole for a fill reference. I guess they just want to make it more difficult to do yourself.

HI,
Get a LONG, skinny funnel, the aporpaite fluid type, and reach in (while the engine is cool) towards the right side of the engine, next to the battery. There is the transmission tank. There is no dipstick, be aware.

Thanks for using Fixya

Sounds like a possible Torque Converter Clutch solenoid in transmission valve body. This fix is alot easier than it sounds.

My 95 chevy cavalier can only go fowar wen i put it on reverse it wont move wat should i do

Check the transmission fluid level 1st, if that is ok then the transmission has a failed reverse clutch band, to replace this part means a transmission rebuild must be performed.

Where do I check the transmission fluid

Hi, follow the detailed instruction below on how to check the Transmission fluid on your Chevy Cavalier 2001.
  1. Turn the Cavalier on and put it in neutral. Make sure your hand brake is engaged to keep the car from moving while you work on it. Open your car's hood so that you have access to the engine.
  2. Look for your Cavalier's transmission dipstick. It should stick out from the body of the engine, and be clearly labelled as "transmission fluid." Refer to your Cavalier's owner's manual for a diagram of engine parts if you have trouble locating the dipstick.
  3. Pull the dipstick out and clean it off with a rag. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again. Check the end of the dipstick for your reading; the transmission level will be measured on the dipstick by labels like "low," "medium" and "high." If your dipstick has no fluid on it, it means that your Cavalier is almost out of transmission fluid and needs more. A low reading also indicates a need to add more fluid. If the fluid is low, add a bottle of transmission fluid, available for purchase at auto supply shops. Add fluid and repeat this process until your dipstick shows a reading of "high" or "full."

I can't find where to put my transmission fluid in my 98 chevy cavalier. Please help.

On the cavaliers the transmission fluid does not have a separate fill location from the Check stick. To fill this just take a long funnel and fill it in the dipstick check hole

Ifound where you put transmission fluid in the trans. but i can not find where to or how to check the fluid level it is and auotmatic. 2004 chevy cavalier

There is a small plug (10mm) located in the transmission near where the passenger (right) side drive axle enters the transmission. With the engine warm and at idle, remove the plug and top of the fluid level until the fluid starts to run out the hole.
Not quite user friendly.
Good luck
