Could be the timing chain..
Try to see any lifters.. When trying to start and if engine is turning,, you should see lifter action.. If not - its more than likely the timing chain..

Rate well ;o)

I have a 1999 dodge ceruis. I quit running going down the highway at 70 mph. It was very low of oil. Do the have a ciser shut down system

You are fortunate that the engine still cranks. If it overheated when it shut down it is possible that some of the electrical components may have been burned out.

And if you did permanent damage it is possible that now the engine is not cranking fast enough to start.

Good luck.

Engine starting to run hotter

Either the thermostat or perhaps electric fan are my first thoughts. I assume there's no signs of distress from the water pump, but if no leaks or noises then that's prob ok

Driving down the highway at 70 mphs and car shut down still had power but engine shut off

Do a compression check on the motor. This sounds like the timing belt broke so if you lost compression on any cylinders then this is most likely the problem.

Starter motor spins but the solonoid does not engage, after the car just shut down on the highway

Starter motor spins, but does not engage
  1. Check the starter motor for a seized or binding pinion gear.
  2. Remove the flywheel inspection plate and check for a damaged ring gear.

On short trips wont start after cut off now going down highway just cutoff and wont restart....?????

Your main power relay is the likely culprit that's bad. Have it checked and replaced if necessary. The no start after short trips was a clear sign of your main relay going bad.

Car is stalling

My 2001 chevy impala was stalling at the light or when I was just riding down the road on the highway it would all of a sudden just cut off. I had a mechanic change the crankshaft position sensor and the car have not stalled or shut off since. Hope this helps you and good luck.

Is there a reset button on this fuel pump

CHEVY DOESN'T USE A FUEL PUMP RESET/CUTOFF SWITCH, FORDS USE THIS FEATURE, ON A CHEVY IT IS DONE WITH THE OIL PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH, SO IF U LOOSE OIL PRESSURE THE FUEL PUMP CUTS OFF, THIS OIL PRESSURE FUEL PUMP CUTOFF SWITCH AND IT'S WIRING ARE NEAR THE OIL FUILTER UNDER THE TRUCK.

My 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix skips when I'm driving down the highway. Doesn't happen all of the times, just most of the times. Please help.

When you say it skips do you mean it misses? If so then if you have a 3.4 motor then remove the coil wires one at a time and check that there is no corrosion on the coil towers. If it is a 3.8 do the same thing.Check the coil towers.
