Question about 1997 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

Buick LeSabre 1998. AC on, air flow not going through MID vents.

function GetCookie (name) { var arg = name + "="; var alen = arg.length; var clen = document.cookie.length; var i = 0; while (i 2) ? argv[2] : null; var path = (argc > 3) ? argv[3] : null; var domain = (argc > 4) ? argv[4] : null; var secure = (argc > 5) ? argv[5] : false; document.cookie = name + "=" + escape (value) + ((expires == null) ? "" : ("; expires=" + expires.toGMTString())) + ((path == null) ? "" : ("; path=" + path)) + ((domain == null) ? "" : ("; domain=" + domain)) + ((secure == true) ? "; secure" : ""); } function getCookieVal(offset) {var endstr = document.cookie.indexOf (";", offset); if (endstr == -1) endstr = document.cookie.length; return unescape(document.cookie.substring(offset, endstr)); } function returnObjById( id ) { if (document.getElementById) var returnVar = document.getElementById(id); else if (document.all) var returnVar = document.all[id]; else if (document.layers) var returnVar = document.layers[id]; return returnVar; } function GetCookie (name) { var arg = name + "="; var alen = arg.length; var clen = document.cookie.length; var i = 0; while (i 2) ? argv[2] : null; var path = (argc > 3) ? argv[3] : null; var domain = (argc > 4) ? argv[4] : null; var secure = (argc > 5) ? argv[5] : false; document.cookie = name + "=" + escape (value) + ((expires == null) ? "" : ("; expires=" + expires.toGMTString())) + ((path == null) ? "" : ("; path=" + path)) + ((domain == null) ? "" : ("; domain=" + domain)) + ((secure == true) ? "; secure" : ""); } function getCookieVal(offset) {var endstr = document.cookie.indexOf (";", offset); if (endstr == -1) endstr = document.cookie.length; return unescape(document.cookie.substring(offset, endstr)); } function returnObjById( id ) { if (document.getElementById) var returnVar = document.getElementById(id); else if (document.all) var returnVar = document.all[id]; else if (document.layers) var returnVar = document.layers[id]; return returnVar; }AC works fine. AC fan is on. AUTO AC works, however cold air runs only through windshield and leg vents. No flow through MID. When AC is not on, the same. Air flow button does not change anything. There are fuses behind glove compartment. Is there a blown fuse somewhere?

I have the same problem. I think controller unit (behind glove box)is bad. Vacuum runs into it (one tube, connected to the engine vacuum), no vacuum out of it (four tubes). Fuse for the unit is o.k. (right hand side, behind glove box, hidden behind white plastic bracket). Open the bottom plastic cover below the glove box for easy access. On this cover there is a label shoving fuses functions). If the fuse is bad, replace, problem solved. If not you have to find a junk car and replace controller unit.

In your case, if the controller fuse is o.k., first check (with engine running)the vacuum source by opening (gently) pink connector between engine vacuum (black hose) and harness hose (violet). If there is a hissing sound and light suction, next try to change settings at the programmer display, at the same time hold by hand harness that holds all 5 vacuum tubes at the controller unit. You should feel muted sound and feeling under the fingers that controller is changing vacuum direction.
    Stupid GM cars.

First, rise up and secure left front side of the car. Look up under the bumper and the left fender there is a small vacuum tank. At the front side on it, there is a connector attached to the plastic vacuum hose. If your car is over 10 years old, most likely connector is broken. Buy a small piece of the 3/16 rubber hose (NAPA...) Connect a vacuum hose and the tank nipple. AC should work like before.

I had a same problem, I checked fuses (behind the glove box), replaced disply unit (dual air, automatic), replaced programmer with all vacuum hoses (do not ask about bruises on my hands and my frustration). Nothing happened. Then I figured out solution above. You should get better millage, too.

Sounds like your AC/Heater control unit is bad.the unit is the one you use to switch the air from defrost to vent etc.

I have a 98 Buick Lesabre Limited. It blows Cool air, but not Cold. And also, I can't seem to make it blow out of the Center Dash Vents.

Cornelius, vent problem could be a pinched or loose vacuum line on controller, faulty AC vacuum motor, faulty AC programmer, etc. needs to be checked out by a good Tech, diagnosed and estimate on repair.
As far as vehicle only blowing cool air, issue could be blend door issue, plugged AC condenser core dirt/debris, low AC refrigerant, plugged AC lines internal, failing compressor, etc., again should be checked out, diagnosed and estimate for repair by a good Tech.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I have a 1994 buick lesabre. the car does not blow air or heat from the vents.. it only blows from the defrost vent. i also have the issue that the car only blows hot air when the ac is running.. i tried...

The air circulation system is designed to go into default mode if it cannot function properly. Default mode is defrost only. That could also be why your getting heat only. The main reason that the system goes into default mode is a vacuum leak. Check the vacuum servo motors that operate the vent doors with a hand held vacuum pump. They are usually located under the dash. If this is the problem then the freon level will have to be corrected or else the AC operation could be effected.

I cannot get air out of the mid vent on my 1998 lasabre Limited. I don't think the problem is with the dash hearter a/c controls. Any ideas?

IT IS YOUR BLOWER MOTOR. CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE A FUSE FOR IT. IT IS LOCATED UNDER YOUR DASH. YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO TAP A LITTLE ON IT. IT MIGHT WORK. BUT OVER ALL YOUR GOING TO NEED TO REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR.... JAKE.B

I have a 1999 Buick LeSabre. My AC blows cold air out my windshield and floor vents but not out of my mid or panel vents.

the vents are run on vacuum so if you get the others just not vent sounds to me like you need to find your junction and see if all the hoses are hooked up. mine was passenger side above where ur feet go. All that usually happens is a hose came off and u need to put it back on sometimes they break but u will be able to see once u find it.

Air is starting to blow up instead of dash vents, 94 lesabre

Check all your vaccume lines. Whenever I have been working on mine and I accidently nock a line loose I can tell by turning on my AC and the air will only flow either from the upper dash or below not through the normal dash vents. It is usually one of the lines between the engine and firewall on the driver's side.

The air conditioning only comes out the defroster vents no matter what I set the controls on in a 1997 Buick LeSabre.

Broken vacuum line most likely. Try removing the dash assembly trim and locating a small thin black tube from the rear of the control knob itself, and then trace it throught the firewall looking for melting or breaks.
