Yes, if the car tends to pitch a lot or if it sways when cornering, or if it dips when you stop, and if it has that bounce to it when you go over bumps or irregularities in the road, could very well need shocks or struts. These kind of symptoms can be due to other suspension problems, such as worn springs or other suspension problems, but it's the shocks or struts that usually are worn when the car rides rough and it's got some mileage on it.

If I need a alternator will the car ride rough

Really depends on if you have an air-ride electric pump or not. Otherwise there is no connection between ride and electric performance. Be like blaming the radio for a rough ride.

You can get your car scanned for free at Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys. Ask for a charging system check.

Check your tire pressure, shock absorbers and front-end alignment.

It may be helpful for you to get some idea of the mechanism involved in operating the shock absorbers in your vehicle. Refer this information. It may then be a matter of finding the parts involved if replacement is required

What is service ride control

Service Ride Control means one or some of your shocks or struts are worn and may need replacing. The price for new ones is not cheap,

The front[or rear] sway bars have links in them that are rubber mounted,it sounds like one of the sway bar links is broken,or one of the sway bar bushings is missing.Find the sway bar and have a close look at the mounts to see if the problem lies here.

Rides a little rough. do I need shocks or ball joints?

more than likely shock absorbers. the joints are more likely to be replaced if steering drags to one side or noticably un-responsive.

Rough ride

Sounds like the shocks are bad. If you inspect the shocks, you may see leakage. This is an indication that you have a bad shock absorber. Not knowing how long you've owned the car, have no idea the last time the shocks were replaced but this would be the first place I'd look. Good luck and write back with any questions or concerns.

if it was me i would check the shock mount at the top to make sure they are in good shape and checkout the tires to make sure you do not have a bad one or two and also check the stabilizer bar to make the bushings are not bad
