Same Problem - Xterra Panic Alarm Keeps Going Off

I've had the same issue with my 2002 Xterra. Once or twice a day the panic alarm goes off for the 30 second interval.

If you are close to the truck when it happens, try removing the battery from the remote. Some times when remotes are worn, they can send out a constant signal setting off the alarm, unlocking the doors and so on. I would try that first. If it stops, then you verified the remote is the problem

Thanks Jay!

When I lock the doors, why does the panic alarm go?

Your door locks are controlled by a control module . GEM - generic electronic module . Watch this video ! Door Locks Go Crazy 1 You possibly have a bad door switch .

The Factory alarm keeps going off without pushing the panic button on the keys of my 2002 Mercury Courgar.

to eliminate the possibility the key fob is causing this, remove the battery form the fob-if it continues, you have an issue with a sensor on your alarm (either door or hood)-try locking/unlocking the doors manually, or check to see if the hood switch located on the passenger side under the hood is damaged or stuck open.

2002 dodge grand caravan panic alarm

if its the remote then it needs to be swapped out. it could be the alarm module if the remote is not the thing that malfunctioning. i would get the alarm reprogrammed by the dealer and the whole module and go from there.
so in order, 1. reprogram whole system 2.replace remote 3.replace module

On my saab vector ignition key functions

I have a Saab 93 Vector and although my key does not have that function my manual says the following; 'Press once - Turns on exterior and cabin lighting, for 30 sec, or turns off lighting. Deactivates panic alarm. Hold and press for more than 2 sec - Cars with car alarm: panic alarm (activates alarm manually).
There is another section that says the button turns off lights and larm when activated and the car remains locked. The panic alarm can only be activated when the car is stationary and it will be silenced when the car is driven away.

Hope that makes sense. Enjoy your Saab 93 - I know I do every day.

I had the same problem with my '05 GMC Canyon. It turned out that the ignition switch was shorting out on me. Once they replaced that, no more trouble.

panic goes off.... have the dealer reprogram it and make sure the function of it is proper.. if the reprogramming does not work the module will need to be replaced like all other malfunctioning modules.
