Some customers of 2007-2009 model year Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent vehicles equipped with a 3.4L engine (LNJ), and 2008 Chevrolet Express, Silverado; GMC Savana, Sierra vehicles equipped with a 4.3L engine (LU3) may comment about rough engine operation and the illumination of the Check Engine Light. This may be caused by spark plug wire boots that do not provide a sufficiently robust dielectric seal to withstand the high voltage required to fire the spark plugs.
Special Coverage Adjustment
This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. Dealers are to replace all spark plug wires and, if necessary, the spark plug. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer. For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after January 5, 2011, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to January 5, 2011, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.

unbolt the upper engine mounts and push the car backwards then place a block of wood if front of the tire this will rotate the engine forward and give you more room to get to the back side of the engine

isnt ur car still under warranty its under 3years old do u have more 36,000 miles cause they have to cover it if ur vehicle does has less 36,000 miles id never go to that dealer again, but looking at engine from th e front left to right in the rear 1 3 5 im guessing this is 3.4 since 3.6 is coil on plugs

Hello: check the spark plug wire, the spark plug the injector, do a compression check. Diagnosing the problem without a GM Tech2 or aftermarket upscale scanner is a step by step of elimination and guess work. You also need to check the coil for that cylinder. What size engine?

Notice: This engine has aluminum cylinder heads. Do not remove the spark plugs from a hot engine, allow it to cool first. Removing the spark plugs from a hot engine may cause spark plug thread damage or cylinder head damage.
Gap the spark plug, using round wire type spark plug gap gage. 


Gap Adjust the spark plug gap to 1.14 mm (0.045 in).

DO NOT coat the spark plugs with anti seize compound. Over torquing could occur and damage to the cylinder head threads may result.

If your going to use Platnum plugs, DO NOT GAP them. Just check the gap and if there not the right gap, ask for new one's with the right gap.

The metal on the PLatnum plugs, are harder and my break apart in the cylinder .
