1993 ford escort not starting/is stalling

We tried to fix the firing order but it is not working. i was told to my 1993 ford escort that that firing order is 1-4-3-2 but that is still not working. and now the car wont start. in the beginning the car just stalled every time we stopped at a light or stop sign. what might the problem be?

Someone told you wrong. The firing order is 1-3-4-2
That is for both the 1.8 Liter engine, and the 1.9 Liter engine.
If you have the 1.8 Liter engine with the distributor:
Looking at a top view, (Looking straight down from the top), view the mounting screws for the distributor cap. View the screws in a straight line, top to bottom. The adjustment to turn the distributor is on the left. The connection for the wiring harness is on the right.

Number 1 spark plug tower is on top. It is in-between the upper mounting screw, and the connection for the wiring harness.
Rotation for the distributor is Counterclockwise. To the left. 1-3-4-2

Viewing the Escort from the front, looking at the windshield. Number 1 spark plug is all the way to the right. The distributor is on the left.
Right to left it is 1-2-3-4.

To diagnose why your car won't stay running, is tough without more information. Could be something as simple, as needing a tune-up real bad.
Start with the Fuel System, then go to the Engine Electrical System. If you get your car running again, and find more information, how about coming back here, and asking again?
Post another question with perhaps a little more info?

Sorry, I meant LEFT to RIGHT the cylinder order is 1-2-3-4, viewing the car from the front, looking towards the windshield.

Here are the firing order diagrams for those engines and I hope that they will help you solve the problem that you are having. For some reason Ford has listed the same firing order for both engines starting in 1995.

Ford Escort (1993) (EFi engine) starts, then stalls.

The fuel pump in the petrol tank has a sock that acts as a coarse filter. This sock gets clogged with muck causing the car to starve of fuel intermittently and lead to the stalling as you've described. If you pour in some injector cleaner (contains detergents) or methylated spirits it may just fix the problem. Condensation (water) in the fuel creates a slimy goop that clogs filters. It worked for me and my 1992 Daihatsu Charade, and have heard that other cars with similar symptoms have been cured in the same way, usually after expensive repairs have already proved unsuccessful . A cheap solution really! Try this first. Good Luck.

1993 Ford Escort 1.9L Auto Randomly Stalls

I don't have the solution, but I have the same exact problem on my 1991 Escort 1.9L with auto with 120K miles. I replaced the IAC with no difference. In fact I unplugged it, and still had the random stalling. Also disconnected the EGR vacuum line...still stalled randomly. After it stalls it always starts right back up again. Sometimes it will act as if it's going to stall, but comes back to normal idle. Park or Drive makes no difference. Acceleration and all normal driving is fine. The next thing I was going to try is hooking up a timing light and watch to see if the timing light stops flashing as it's stalling, and/or hooking up a fuel pressure gauge somehow, to the fuel rail, to see if the pressure drops when stalling....to figure out if its ignition or fuel related.
