Question about BMW 530

New battery is drained. Alternator was tested and was fine. In testing both on the car, sometimes there is a current charging the battery, sometimes there isn't. is my alternator test wrong? is it the connection or a fuse somewhere?

You either have a short in the wiring or a problem with the voltage regulator. Check the plug at the alternator and move some of the wires around while the alternator is being checked to see if output changes. This will help locate a wire that is shorting out. I had a wire shorting out inside the plug and I pulled it out, stripped some insulation, and re-soldered it into the plug. Anyhoo, sure hope this helped ya, and good luck.

02 kia optima battery keeps dyeing. Ive checked the alternator and its fine..also got a used battery . but it still dies. I can get a jump and it will run until i turn it off. Than i need a jump again

Probably needs a new battery. Have your battery load tested. That is, after its charged, a quick current drain is applied then you test the battery again and see how much charge is left. If the load test comes back at anything less than 80% of full charge, then you definitely need anew battery.

What could be draining a brand new battery along with having a brand new alternator?

the alternator is not charging
problems include incorrect alternator ( internal voltage regulated as against external voltage regulated )
blown rectifier plate ( charing with ac current instead of DC)
drive belt tension
best have it checked by an accredited auto electrician

My Saturn Vue is 2003 it has a new battery but won't hold a charge for more than three days. Several mechanics have said the car must be driven regularly to keep the battery charged; that there is no

Were were told pure nonsense by those mechanics

Forget other folks vehicle problems
All vehicles worldwide have many issues

They can do a Parasitic Current Test -- by leaving all the doors
closed & the key out of the ignition & have an Amp Meter in
either battery cable, then you wait for all modules & relay's to
time out (go to sleep)

IF-- you have a current draw over 50 to 60 Milli-Amps after an
hour --you have to start pulling fuses, to locate the circuit with
a problem & your battery drain

For your Alternator-- there are many tests & ways to do them,so do not assume the shops you went to, are on their game

My guess is that no shop has actually put time into the problem
& there may be many reasons why. That part I won't share with you,as it is not easy in that business dealing with the public, that hate you & the prices you charge.

My 1994 lesabre won't charge. It has a new alternator and the battery tested fine. Is it the PCM? or??

could be but i would check the terminals to the battery first. if it's the soft lead kind any crack at all small or large will not let current pass either way

Battery and alternator tested fine at advance auto but something is draining the battery.

The Alternator does not have enough current to charge the battery, replace the alternator.

My renault megane scenic only starts some days and others it is completely dead, I charge up the battery and it's fine for a few days and the dies again, got a new battery and the alternater is fine.

you may have a problem with the alternator sometimes not charging, may test okay sometimes, take a good look at the alternator and also make sure nothing is staying on, like inside lights, glove box light or brake lights, keep an eye on these things when parking the car for the day, something may be draining the battery down slowly.

Do you have any kind of testing equipment like a digital voltmeter that has "amps" or current capability?

the battery is no good have an AVR test done,if it is good there is a fusible link that goes to the feedback circuit on the alternator in alot of cars.if the alternator went,it could have blown the fuse link.if you put a charged up battery in there it will run quite a while. but the battery could have been bad and thats what took out the alternator...the other thing you may want to look for is something draining the battery, disconnect the terminal, and put a current meter in should be 1 to 2 milliamps only.sometimes a glovebox light, trunk light etc, drains the battery.
