Front air struts stuck all the way up

Air suspension fault apears and front end is about 6 inches higher than normal and rides like a truck !!!!

1997lincolnviiiair ride system in front end is loosing air


This is a common problem for all Lincolns. Since the front rises but can't hold the air, it's a good sign that you don't have any compressor problems. You probably hear the compressor constantly clicking on to try to keep the front end inflated.
The most common cause is a leak in the air spring. It is often referred to an "air bag" which is basically a cartridge that fills and releases air based on the load. The most common repair is to replace the air spring (it's advisable to replace 2 at a time). There is another solution to replace the air spring(s) with a conventional aftermarket shock type spring setup. It's a matter of personal preference. You would still get a nice ride from a conventional shock absorber setup. Although more expensive, I've always preferred to go with the air spring replacement to keep the classic "Lincoln" ride intact.

make sure you don't have an air leak at the springs or the compressor. but you may want to have the air suspension module checked for fault codes. the module itself may be the issue not processing the inputs correctly and mis-leveling the vehicle.

My 03 Lincoln navigators suspension went from bn fine to now the drivers side is higher than normal and the passengers side is lower than normal especially in the back ... It is also not lowering down when...


You can not use it like that

Replace the air ride suspension with conventional
shocks/struts (Strut Master or similar parts)


The Navigator system is not worth working on, from the time
it was built
EVERYONE has problems & BIG repair bills & NO success
repairing that system

Next time buy the Ford Version

Anyone with a Mountaineer or Explorer should remove
the Factory Air Suspension, and replace with conventional
shocks/struts.

There are lots of companies with those products

I do not believe, even a dealer can resolve all the
issues,especially with the Mountaineer

When you go over 2 or 3 thousand dollars trying to keep
believing, you can get it to work,you will switch from
the air ride, and end what should have never been on
those vehicles in the first place.

Bmw 750 iL, 1996, suspension real hard, front end sitting much to high, help!


being 1996 750 4.8 litre fairly heavy car, I wouldn't doubt the car would need new struts/shock replacement all around. front tend to go out first before the rear because of extras weight of the motor, you can feel the ride more spongy going over bumps, poor handing when cornering and once awhile you can hear the metal hitting metal. have all coil springs also check, some get weaken and will make the car sit higher on one side or front sit higher than the rear or which ever. I would have the coil spring check and replace all shocks/struts you be surprise the car will ride as it was new, suspension has allot to do with comfort and handling. If you have to replace the shock/struts, get an estimate first from your local shop for the price of 4 shocks and then shop on ebay first to see if you can do a bit of saving, don't forget including your shipping also including into the cost. any garage will out it in for you.

Bouncy is front end


The front suspension, is not air managed. If the front end is bouncing , replace the front strut/shock units. Hope this helps

Right front suspension loose / crashing noise


Would recommend having the front struts and strut mounts looked at, over time the struts and strut mounts wear out, causing the front supension to develop noise whe going over even the slightest of road deformities. Hope this helps

1989 xt6 subaru front struts


Overtime the rubber boots dry out and create small cracks that leak slowly on the front and rear air suspension. Through experimentation, I have found that you can add this green material called "Green Goop" that you add to bicycle tires to stop leaks. I added four ounces to each shock and exercised them while removed from the car. You'll see this material bleed through these airline cracks. Reinstall shocks but be careful not to allow this green material to leak back to the air solenoid. If the air suspension light on the dashboard is blinking, the compressor has shut down in fault condition. Put the ignition key to off remove the negative side on the battery, turn the key to on and then off. Replaced battery cable and this should clear the fault. If it does not you will half to add air into the system by removing one of the air tubes into the system to build up some pressure and will help to clear the fault. While this may be time-consuming and looks to be complicated, it‘s not! If you have any mechanical ability this can be really achieved and so, will save you couple thousand dollars in replacing the air suspension. One air shock from the dealer is $450. Of course you can convert to standard shocks that are on the market. But this takes away from that great ride that only air suspension can give you! And that makes a XT6 the best! Hope this helps?
