Question about 1994 Toyota Camry

94 toyota camry running really rough

I have a 94 camry w/ a 4 cyclinder, and 250k. It runs really rough on acceleration and even when it finaly kicks into final drive. the only time it will run smooth is when its in neutral, but it will start missing if I turn on the a.c. Today it was soo bad it would take about 30 seconds with the peddle to the floor before it would start to pick up speed. Then it would kick into gear and chug along . It will run smooth once it gets into higher rpms. So it will start off with nothing , then chug and **** its way up through the rpm range until it gets up to about 6k then it will wind out smooth, then kick into the next gear and start the process over again, please help

Get rid of cold air intake and re install stock also sounds like your mass air flow unit is going out or your cars ecm isnt operating properly check air filter make sure its not clogged up then check all your vacuum hoses for cracks,dry rot or kinks making sure none are pinched causing vacuum to not respond.ok after this check the fumes from exhaust for color but it could also be catalytic converter even though it says air temp.when this problem occurs it can be number of things spray electric cleaner on wires as well and check for loose wires now take your time going over these things to be sure you accurately inspect this

1. Error Code 24. Intake Air Temperature Sensor.
Solution:
Check the following:
- IAT Connector and wiring.
- Intake Air Temperature Sensor.
- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.
- ECM.
2. Rough Idling when the engine is hot.
The following are the reasons due to which the engine can perform bad when it is hot.
- Fuel pump control circuit.
- Fuel pump pressure.
- Fuel injectors.
- Non Return Valve clogged, located on the lower side of car chassis above the fuel tank.
- Engine compression, valve clearance, spark plugs.

My 94 Toyota Camry LE is running really rough and stalling.


The previous owner has screwed things up by changing the air intake and eliminating the air temp sensor. The car's computer depends on a series of sensors to determine what fuel mixture it should command, and now it can't do that properly.

When the car is cold, it knows from the coolant temp, and it sends plenty of fuel, but when hot it is getting the mixture wrong.

Restore the air intake to original, with the correct sensors, as it should run OK.

If not, then go looking for a vacuum leak or an air leak in the air intake hose and plenum somewhere.

Make sure the cable from the pedal to the throttle is good and hook up
to the throttle. When you press the pedal it should pull the throttle to open.

scan the computer with a computer scanner just to see what it says. check your intake, I am thinking your mass air flow sensor is no good. it happened to my car where the rpm increases and decreases when the car is idle. Or it can be the IAC valve.

94 camry is running hot mainly after running a/c and in traffic


Dpending on how many miles, try changing the thermostat, also could be the ac fan relay not kicking on, the water pump is also in this equation if none of these work.

1990 Camry runs roughly when accelerating, especially up hills...


This could be a problem with plugs, wires, distributors, fuel filter or fuel injectors. Try changing the plugs and wires first, then the fuel filter. If you are changing the plugs and wires, make sue you use anti seizing compound and dielectric grease.
