Power seat problem

Mine are not stuck per se, but will only try to operate one side. I assume this is cable failure. Do your motors try to move the seat or just sit there dead?? I haven't found a way to manually adjust the seats. Is there a way??
Thanks

I was commenting on someone's problem he thought was associated with "dead" seat motors. But, my problem seems to cable related, as only one side of each seat moves slightly when activated. I thought of removing the seat to get access to the cable connectors but the mounting bolts appear to be difficult to get to.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

It is a cable problem. I had the same problem with my 960- only one side of the seat was moving. I took the seat out and pulled the cable and put it back -it solved the problem

There is not a way to manually adjust the seats, and in order to repair your stated issue, I will agree with you, it sounds like a cable issue. problem is, you have to time the cables, so that they will not continue to operate in a twisted state.

Passenger side seat stuck in recline 1996 328i bmw

This is either an electrical problem or the infamous twisted seat problem caused by the cables between the motors and reclining gear units of the power seat.
Check the connector under the front of the seat and make sure it has not been disconnected
listen to determine whether the motor at the front of the seat are turning when you try to move the seat (they are fairly quiet)
If the motor spins, then search internet for "bmw twisted seat"
good luck

Passinger seat wont move back 1988

You will need to do some testing, i assume the other position work and only rear movement does not.
This could be a switch problem ,wiring problem or motor problem, the seat may use up to 2-3-or 4 motors to operate the seat. you will need to first locate motors under the seat and while holding the button look and see if the motor is running, it uses small cables from motors to tracks, see if it is a cable that broke or if something is stuck in the track.

Next check connection to the module and motors.
The next step would be to remove the controls and check switch for power.

This car being a 1988 i would say it may be any one off these problems listed. good day

2002 nissan maxima driver seat motor works on the right rail, but the left side is dead no sound and want to move on one rail only the right side

There is a cable that goes from the motor mounted on the right side rail that runs to a small gear box on the left rail, more then likely the cable has popped out of either the motor or the gear, it’s flexible and can be popped out fairly easily, even having bottles under your seat can cause this problem..

Just repaired that same problem on my the old ladys 2007 slk 280. Found flexible cable similar to that of a speedometer cable pulled out of end of seat motor. Feel around underneath seat towards back of seat for loose end of flex cable and simply slip it back in the slot at the end of motor

Before taking door apart, try this fast procedure, if just one window stuck:

1. Sit in vehicle, on seat next to problematic window
2. Ignition key is on
3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it)
4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !!
5. SLAM hard the door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4.
6. Watch window operate as it should.

7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!

You might want to try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and then reconnecting it. This procedure fixed my seat that was not working. It works fine now. I know it sounds too good to be true but it usually works

Front seat not moving front to back for Toyota Avalon 1997

If it is power seat electric motor is faulty. For mechanical you need to spray the rails under the seat. There is the grease at any autostore or Walmart for unscrewing rusty bolts. It will be helpfull. After you do thet push seat forward and back afterwards.
It will go
Good Luck

Driver side seat

I'm assuming it's a power seat, if so it sounds like the switch itself is bad on the side of the seat. The other possibility although I doubt it, is that the power motor is bad or has a loose wire stopping it from moving the seat upward. Try removing the switch and seeing if the contact points are corroded or if the switch is not making good contact.
