If you are making short trips, perhaps using power accessories, etc. Your battery will lose its reserves. You may want to put it on a charger once and a while. Also when a battery gets older it will start to die in cold weather. I expect about 7 or so years out of my batteries. As you say yours is less than a year old....so there may be a charging problem.....get it checked if short trips and draining it with acc. is not happening.

My 1998 kia sportage does not start, something is draining the battery, had the alternator, started and battery tested, all good. So what's draining the battery!

The #1 most common cause is lights being left on or lights coming on at night when the temperature drops. Lighted visors are a common problem.

Have a 2000 Kia Sportage. Car wont start. Put in a used battery, vehicle started then eventually stopped working and battery appeared to be drained. If the vehicle is draining the car battery, what would...

Given your car's symptoms the alternator is probably bad. If you're able to drive the car, or remove the alternator, many auto parts stores (e.g.; O'Reilly's) will test the alternator for free (and possibly replace it).

I have 2006 Kia Sportage. I have been encountering hard start.

There is a check valve under the vehicle on passengers side of vehicle, near the axle, this is most likely the problem,it is allowing the fuel to drain back in the tank. This part is only available online,or at the Kia dealer.I hope this was helpful, and if so,please rate, thank you.

Hi i had a 1996 sportage AT,the problem with my sportage it wont start and the battery is always drained up specially when not in use.even witha new battery it wont start up

Have an alternator test performed to verify that the alternator is working adequately. If it's not charging the battery enough a drain will result.

If that's not the case, then a parasitic draw test will have to be performed to find out where the drain is coming from. Chances are something like the glove box light is remaining on, or you have a minor short causing the battery to drain. You can look up how to do this but it's a better idea to see the dealership as they have the Kia specific training to do this and will know the common problems to look for.

Good luck!
