Question about 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
Sears Auto Center just put a new alternator in my 98 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS 3.0 V6. Now engine can't idle. A/T, Battery & Brake warning lites come on after stalling but no problem restarting. Turning off ignition almost the same as disconnecting the battery - I know this because with ignition key ON but engine still OFF, except power-window & horn, everything else (power-lock, courtesy-dome-map lites, heater fan) doesn't work. I also have to reenter radio code and reset the clock after engine start. I suspect the 100A battery fuse is blown. If so can the car still run and what are the risks? Thanks.
They more than likely shorted out your 100a link fuse by grounding out your alt cable while replacing it. Sounds like they didn't disconnect the battery before hand. Your car has an idle program which it re-learns every time you lose power, or in your case, turn off the switch. You need to replace this fuse or your car will not charge.
