Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

This vehicle has the OBDII system and you can only retrieve codes on this with a scan tool. Some of your parts houses like Autozone will retieve them for you for free.

i have had this same problem since ~ 44K miles. Dealer says need a new trans, bu after i shut the car off, it runs fine...ad sometimes for months without the wrench light and trans messages popping up. I looked on the ford site and they show a tech bulletin about the sensors being bad as mentioned above. Im waiting for mine to act up again and am taking it in to get this fixed. Obviously Im going to another dealer.

The service light can come on for many reasons. You need to ask a sales clerk at the local auto parts store to read the codes for your car and tell you what the codes indicate. When you get them to tell you, pay attention to the the last code (most recent) and instead of trying to replace parts based on the code readouts, instead you should post on fixya what the codes indicate and experts can then give you suggestions to help you fix the problem for the least expense.
