If you want to use aftermarket parts, be sure to get them from a reputable source. Make sure it's a parts house that will sell you rebuilt/ remanufacured parts that have a warranty. Avoid the Ebay cheapies that may not fit right and then you're stuck.
There are several reputable reman companies. Stick with a known. As the parts house guys, they'll have info if the parts keep getting returned or they're good quality etc...
The dealer may be selling you new and asking for the core anyway... always ask.

The aftermarket stores Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, Pep Boys etc, sell rebuilt units and give you a core fee back. The only used part, is the main casting. All bearings, bushings, seals etc are brand new parts, they are just put into a used casting. If the casting is damaged in any way which MIGHT effect the unit, it will not be used for a rebuild. I've been using aftermarket rebuilt parts since 1968 and I haven't had one failure yet.

I have a 1998 volkwagon beetle 2.0 that needs a water pump so i buy the water pump install it put everything back together and put water inside then it just spilled out. tried to start it and now the

you should did your home work before removed old water pump most vw engines water pump is part of the timing belt assembly so when time to replace around 80k miles you should order complete timing belt kit which includes water pump with it.
so after you finish up if you didnt try to hard to run engine you may or may not damage any piece from your valve train!!even with all proper parts you have on your hand you still need high cost speciality tools to complete timing belt replacement on that engine recommendetion is tow your vehicle to mechanic shop and let them do it for you it will save you time and money!
good luck!

It is leaking around the seal. The shop I took it to stated it'd be cheaper & easier to just replace the pump instead of just the seal. They quoted me a little over $300 for the job. How can I do this...

Are you talking about the fuel pump? If you are, then they are wrong. You can go to a parts store and get the ring that seals the pump for under twenty dollars. The water pump's seal is inexpensive too, but if you ever have the water pump off on a high mileage vehicle, it's good to replace it anyway.

Changed fuel pump on 99 gmc sierra and has gone out again in less than 2 months, any suggestions what could be causing it?

Did you change the fuel filter? A partially clogged fuel filter will burn up a brand new pump. Otherwise I would suspect you just got a brand new bad fuel pump. Has happened to me twice, so it is possible. Some parts I pay more for to get the OEM brand. Fuel pumps, water pumps, heater core, etc. Any hard to replace part, I buy from the dealer or from a parts store that sells the OEM brand.

im sorry bro i find that you needing special tools a load of bs. i may be wrong but i really really doubt it. brakes are easy. first locate the caliper and there should be 2 bolts holding that tight. loosen the top bolt and then take out the lower bolt from the caliper. the old pads should just fall out. remove the master cylinder cap. (the jug with brake fluid in it.) compress the piston replace the old pads and push the claiper back down on the rotor. tighten bolts back up pump the brakes till hard with the car off and then repeat for the other side.

I need to replace water pump on 1995 Chrysler Le Baron

This will take some digging. You would be money ahead to go to a parts store and buy a haynes or chilton manual for 20 dollars. The waterpump is ran by the timing belt, so you will want to replace that to. You also need to know how to line the timing marks up to get the belt back on right. The manual will give you all the info you need.

I have had exactly the same thing happen to me. In the end it was a faulty water pump which was allowing water into the engine.
