Do you know where the DRL relay is located ? Pull the relay out to see if the lights go out . Is the daytime running lamp indicator lit on the instrument cluster ? Explain this its like all got is day time driving lights on bright work ? The high beams work ? No low beams .

  • Jeff Armer Jan 05, 2017

Could have a faulty DRL module .
When the headlamp and panel dimmer switch is in the HEAD position, the headlamp and panel dimmer switch directs voltage to either the low beam headlamps or the high beam headlamps. This depends on the headlamp and panel dimmer switch position. When the headlamp and panel dimmer switch is in the HEAD position, not only is voltage available for the headlamps, but the daytime running lamps (DRL) module receives a HEADLAMPS ON signal. When the DRL module receives this signal, the module disables the DRL operation, if the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the BULB TEST position, or the START position.

SOURCE: headlights wont come on and bright lights won't stay on hold bright light switch and blower works

I had the same problem. The solution is simple; the ignition switch needs to be replaced. This is an easy do-it-yourself project. Here are instructions:

Check for a switch on ebay, they are about $15. After 10 years they wear out.

SOURCE: Headlights Not Working, Brights and Turn Signals Work

This is cuased by the multifuntion switch that is located on the steering column. It is the swith with the headlight dimmers on it.

You just need to remove the steering column bezels and replace the multifunction switch.

SOURCE: Low Beam headlights not working

The daytime running lights run the high beam bulbs at low voltage so it sounds like you need to put the relays back where they were and either replace the low beam bulbs or repair the wiring to them. Also the relay you removed could be defective.

Tail lights and head lights bo thare not working, what is the problem?

There could be several potential causes for both the tail lights and headlights not working and for the headlights turning on the brights when the vehicle is placed in gear. Some possible causes include:
  1. A blown fuse: If a fuse has blown, it can cause the lights to stop working. Check the fuse box and replace any blown fuses.
  2. A problem with the wiring: If the wiring has become damaged or has come loose, it could cause issues with the lights.
  3. A malfunctioning light switch: The light switch might not be functioning properly, which could cause the lights to not work.
  4. A problem with the headlight switch: If the headlight switch is malfunctioning, it could cause the headlights to turn on the brights when the vehicle is placed in gear.
  5. A problem with the dimmer switch: If the dimmer switch is not functioning properly, it could cause the headlights to turn on the brights when the vehicle is placed in gear.
It's recommended to have a mechanic diagnose the issue to determine the cause and recommend the necessary repairs.

My headlights wont work

I don't believe there is a fuse. There is a circuit breaker built into the headlight switch. If you are sure the headlight switch is good, it could be a bad dimmer switch. If you have a voltmeter, with the headlight switch turned on, a larger yellow wire going from the headlight switch to the dimmer switch should be a hot wire. The dimmer switch sends power on a tan wire to the low beams, and through a light green wire to the high beam bulbs.
If your high beam indicator on the dash also doesn't work, then it is likely one of those switches. A voltmeter or test light would need to be used to find which one is bad. If you can find the connector at the steering column going to the dimmer switch, pull it apart and check for power on the yellow wire coming from the headlight switch, with the headlight switch turned on. If no power, the headlight switch is bad. If there is power there, then the dimmer switch must be bad.

Headlights only work on bright

i had this happen with my dodge ram 1500. the guy i bought it from put 350 dollar moon lit lights in with leds and they looked impressive but the issue was that they didnt go bright and i could only see 40 feet in front of me and i was sure taping led flashlights would have done me more good that those stupid headlights. then i had the idea of if the brights work and the dims dont then that means no electricity is getting to the dims so i decided to bridge the power from the bright headlight to the dims and it made all four work. now they all work, and only on bright. so im figuring there is a issue with the wiring in the truck. so this is a temporary solution if you really need just plain old lights like i did because i live out in the country

My 2006 Lincoln Mark LT does not have day time running lights. I always drive with my headlights on. However, with the lights on in the daytime, I have trouble seeing some of the instruments, radio, air...

On some cars, the switch that turns on the dome lights, also controls the brightness of the dash lights. If this is the case with your car, turn the dome light on, and then turn it just far enough for it to shut off the dome light, that should be the brightest, your dash lights can get. Good luck.

2004 Cavalier Day/dim lights not working

I finally got mine fixed!! It was the crossover wires between headlights(the wires that run in front of the radiator). One wire was torn into. Spliced them and taped back together. Hope this works for you!! I also used something called wire caps that help hold the spliced wires together. I found this solution on yahoo.com search engine where someone else had suggested this. My only problem was no dim lights, but all the other lights worked fine.

No driving lights?

Hello there - I would suggest checking the fuse for your lights in the fuse box, and check under the hood for a fuse/relay box, and have the relay tested. If the fuses and relays are good, open the hood, and try to check the connection to the headlights and make sure they are securely connected. You also mentioned that when you push the headlights switch forward for brights, and turn on the night time head lights, and neither come on but the daytime lights do, makes me suspect the switch itself may be bad. I would first check the fuses and relays if any. Second, I would replace the bulbs (if replacable). Other than that, my last guess would be an electrical problem in the wiring somewhere. I hope this information helps you fix your lights. Thank you for your time and consideration in my suggestions/answers.
