Question about 1997 Ford F250 SuperCab

F250 PS super cab 1999

Both back doors have failed in the closed position. Looking for a way I can repair them myself.

    They are failed in the closed position and raising the latch inside or from the outside does not open the door.

    Yep, the passenger side back door failed about a month ago and the driver side back door failed today. They both didn't fail at the same time (don't know if that tells you anything)

    Thanks, You have just convinced me to bring it to the dealer. We had to replace the driver and passenger door solenoids twice already. They can fight those rear doors, guess they should have changed them all when the first two went out.

    Do you know if your truck has RAP locking??

    Remote Anti-Theft Personality Module??

    I hve the schematics for either - It will help you diagnose an electrical problem.



    If you DONT have RAP - your rear locks are fed through the passenger side switch.

    If you DO have RAP - They are locked via a signal from the module.

    I understand they are failed - however you have to determine if the locking mechanism has failed - or the latch.

    It is very unlikely both latches have failed at the same time.

    It is most likely a power lock problem.

    The RAP module is a dealer-only part. It is not serviceable - the entire module must be replaced.

    There is an ALL UNLOCK relay that feeds the rear solenoids.

    Do you hear any clicking in the doors when you lock and unlock?



    The relay is under the dash.

    Wires coming from the relay are....



    Pink/Orange for Ground

    Pink/Light Green for Power



    Use your Digital multimeter to verify 12VDC on the Pink/LG wire.

    Well - it tells me that most likely the door locking solenoids have failed.

    As in either situation RAP and non-RAP - the electronic pulse is sent to both doors at the same time.

    In these trucks - it is pretty difficult to access the inside of the doors without having them open... it usually ends up in more damage to the door.

    With some time - however - you may be able to pull it off.

    You must remove the door panel.

    IF YOU CAN REMOVE THE BENCH SEAT - IT WILL GIVE YOU A LOT MORE ROOM TO WORK.

    Find and remove the door handle screws. (probably 2)... then start removing the panel by working the panel fasteners out around the edge of the panel.

    Once the panel is off - you will have access to the solenoids to change - and can push the solenoids manually to unlock.

    It all hinges on being able to get the panel off... you have your work cut out for you !!

sounds like thats your problem,the drivers door is the one that goes bad the most,switch is located in door latch.youll have to remove door panel,and maybe latch,call a ford dealer and ask if you could buy just the switch or do you have to replace latch asm.

The interior dome light problem


Door switches. They are mounted in the door I believe. Try spraying wd40 in the door latch.

The drivers side door switch goes bad all the time on those, try replacing or check if its sticking.the small little button int the door jam.

Spraying the door latch with a generous amount of WD40 the open and close the door several times will usually correct it most of the time. If not then you would have to remove the door panel and replace the dar adjar switch located on the bottom of the latch it self.

Door ajar light and interior lights stay on


The switch is attached to the door stop. First clean with brake parts cleaner and then follow with white lithium grease.
