When I put my 2000 Mitsubishi Montero in drive the drive light doesn't come on

None of the lights work? PRNDL. Or just the D. None come on replace the transmission safety neutral switch also called the range sensor. If just D the diode for it is burnt. Replace the instrument panel or I would just live with it.

My car has a automatic transmission and sometimes it well not start unless i pull down on the park shifter sometimes to neutral is it in the shifter please answer thanks. ps 1990 mitsubishi montero

I expect the neutral safety switch within the console/shifter is coming out of adjustment or failing. You'll have to remove the trim pieces off of the console to get a good luck. Not too difficult I believe just a medium phillips screw driver will do.

Please let me know if this had assisted you.

Thanks,
Tom

We have a 95 mitsubishi montero. the car will

I'll check my information on adjustment of the neutral safety switch. In the meantime to access the fuel pump you'll need to take up the carpet (and some pad) in the back of the Montero. I believe there is an aluminum strip towards the back of it that will need to be removed, @ 4-6 screws I think. Once this is removed roll the carpet forward and look for an access panel on the floor of the truck (it should only be 2ft or so from the back gate over the tank. If you remove the access cover you'll see the access to the tank directly underneath it; in the end pretty easy to get to. I do believe the sending unit will be an assembly, the fuel pump can of course be seperated from. As fore mentioned I'll check further on the neutral safety switch.
I hope this may have assisted,
Tom

OK, so the tank gauge will be easy to replace by removing the cover form the boot compartment area on the back side of the car and in the middle you will find a reund cover screwed. remove the screws and you will be able to access the guage.

regardingthe saftey switch adjustment, is the shifter loose? you can adjuste the cable on the left hand side of the gearbox above the GB sump is a mechanical cable coming form the back of the car towards the engine that can be adjusted.

Rear Speaker in Montero Limited is bad

Item 21 (the upper interior trim piece) needs to be removed, prior to removing the bottom piece #22. The only screws that hold #21 in are at the handle at the top, then you just pop it out. There are about 6 screws on the bottom part.
