Tear in oil pan

I drove through a construction area and debri in the road tore a hole in the oil pan and all the oil then leaked out of car. I did not drive the car wthout oil so no damage was done there but the pan now needs to be replaced wondering what a reasonable cost for repair would be.

I would say less than $200. It is just 12-14 bolts to removed, pan dropped, new gasket, reinstall and fill with oil

What do i need to repair a hole in oil pan of car

Are you sure it is a hole in the oil pan? Is this a steel pan or aluminum? If there is oil all over uder the hood I would suspect a front seal or a pan gasket, then the belts or fan can blow it around. I would first give it a good wash, top and bottom so you can pin point where it is coming from. If it is a hole in the pan I have seen a few temperary repairs that seemed to work for a while. You would need to drain your oil, then clean the area very well with brake clean and a wire brush, make sure you have it good and dry. Then you can use J B weld (a two part glue) and smear over the area. I have seen some people use seal-all and a peace of cloth. Some people have used a screw and spun it up into the hole with a little silicone, but the best way would be to remove it and get one from a auto wrecker or take it to a shop to get it welded! Hope this helps , good luck!

My 2005 Chevy Cavalier is severely leaking oil from a bolthole on the bottom of the oil pan. It is not the oil plug hole and there are a few holes like it without bolts in them but there is only one...

SOUND LIKE HOLE IN OIL PAN IF THE OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG NOT LOOSE OR MISSING AND THE UPPER PAN BOLTS HOLES NOT MISSING A BOLT CAUSE LEAKING.MORE LIKELY YOU HAVE HOLE IN THE OIL PAN.

I have a 2000 grand caravan leaking trans fluid from cooler area can't tell. Is it a separate cooler or part of radiator?

Are you sure its leaking from the cooler, these vehicles are notorious for the side tranny pan behind the left wheel rotting out from road debris.

1998 Olds Intregue, 3.8L about 80K miles, started making loud engine noise. Tore down and found crack in lower intake manifold. What would cause this? Is it worth replacing? Should I be checking for...

If the intake manifold is cracked, maybe try to put some puddy epoxy in it to repair. I've found puddy epoxy useful in repairing leaks in other parts of the engine, including a rusty oil pan that was leaking oil. I think that puddy epoxy would be ideal for this crack. Probably, you are hearing the valves clacking if there is a crack there.

How much did you tear the engine down?

1998 ford windstar 3.8 rusted through oil pan leaking Estimated cost to fix... Can something be done other than replacing oil pan ?

I had a similar problem with my Pontiac Grand Prix. I solved it by buying some windshield sealer (available at an auto parts store), finding a short sheet-metal screw, LIBERALLY applying the glue to the screw, and screwing it into the leaky hole. I drove the car for years like this - NEVER had another oil leak, and sold the car.

Oil leak onto garage floor either coming from oil pan gasket or oil filter not sure wich one

Clean the filter and pan with a spray cleaner, run engine for a few miutes.
recheck oil leak.
Probably is rear main seal leaking, very common trouble.
If not leaking much, keep drip pan under car to keep floor clean and drive on.
Most cars do leak after they age a little. The black line in the middle of the road is oil leaking from cars. Very common.

Golf mk4 tdi major oil leak from lower engine. oil warning light on.

If is loosing oil too fast the light will come up,because oil pump won't compesate for oil pressure lost without proper oil level.Anyhow,i'm thinking oil pan has bad gasket or, or possibly could be hole in the pan.It happens when small rock on the road hits pan so hard it will make a hole.Cheap materials like Magnesium sulfate that are commonly used on VW's these days are just not quality.Hope I could help you.

1999 Ford Explorer Oil Leak

You most likely hit a curb, the pan is cast aluminum and will break like glass if you hit a curb, the pan can be changed without removing the engine, it is very time consuming, but it can be done.
