Question about 2006 Ford Escape

Howling sound coming from vehicle

More often lately, I've heard a howling sound, almost like an owl's hoot, but higher pitch, and longer duration. Had it to the dealer several times, thinking it's the breaks sticking or hanging on. They found no break problems. Then the sound occurred just after I started the vehicle, after being parked. Very strange. Anyone who's ridden with me has heard it too. They look at me and ask.. "what's that noise?"....
In the last few weeks I pretty much hear the sound every time I drive the vehicle, short or long distance, doesn't matter. Due to the extreme road noise of this vehicle at high speeds on the highway, I don't know if the sound is occurring at that time, but passengers can definitely hear it during city driving.

A low howling sound coming from right front tire on a four wheel drive?

It most definately could be, lift the vehicle to raise the wheel off the ground, firmly hd the tire at the 5 & 11 oclock position ( I say 5&11 to keep your hand from directly under the wheel in case it isn't support well and comes down, don't want your hand crushed) then try to move the tire back and forth, any mkvement indicates a bad bearing.

Probably rear brakes. Clean them up or get them looked at and try again.

My 1997 roadster has a howling noise above 2500 rpm. when I push in the clutch and keep the motor reved up it still makes the same noise . Sounds like it is coming from the gear box,but I was told that...

While I do not know the car well my first thoughts go to the clutch throw-out bearing. With time these fail and I have heard them make a howling type noise which it typical of bearing failure.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom

There is a loud "howling" type noise similar to blowing in the top of a bottle heard in the area of the throttle body/idle control module. The dealer replace the aftermarket air filter with a Honda filter...

It sounds like it is probably a vacuum leak. Have them do a smoke test with the vehicle off to check for a faulty gasket/hole in a hose somewhere.

Good luck
