Question about 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche

1 Answer

Battery dead after a day (repeatedly.....)

Same problem, started about 20 months ago, if the truck sits for a few days , it doens't start. I know I have a draw on it, but can't figure where. I pulled the fuses for everything I could find. Strangely , when I went to the car yesterday, I tried to turn it over and nothing, but then I pulled the key out and it made strange noises and all the guage needles were slightly moving (key was out, so not sure about the reasons for this.) Truck is driven lightly. 15,000 miles over 5 years, is too little for a stupid problem like this.

Take your truck to your local Auto Zone and aske them to test your alteranter. They will do this at no charge. If you can "jump" it and it starts ok, I bet the alt is bad. Check it out, costs nothing but your time!

2004 chevy blazer will not start after sittng for 3 days

1. Dead battery if not turning over due to electrical drainage. Could be from a many number of things.
2. Fuel draining back down into tank slowly due to breach in fuel system. Could try turning the key to the on position for a few seconds then back off repeating 5 or more times before trying to turn over allowing the fuel pump to bring up the gas before trying to start.

Wont start

I had a similar problem a few months ago. Ready to get major engine work done, got fire, timing was right, getting gas.....
An experienced mechanic asked where the car had been parked and how long. I had parked it in grass, over a wet spot. The battery was dead too. He told me to park it over a warm spot for a few days and try a new battery. Did that, with the hood open, replaced the battery, and it fired right up. Something about being too damp and/or the voltage in the battery was too weak.. All I know is it worked, and I drive it every day and don't park in wet grassy spots.

Most commonly it's a spark- or fuel- related problem, but very often it could be something simple like a dead battery. Go to the repair shop to check it.

Yes,the newer cars need a strong battery or funny things happen. You'll need to replace your brake pedal switch or bleed the system properly. don-ohio (:^)

Hello i have a 2004 expedition , and i have been having issues with my battery draining. about a month and a half ago i went away vacation , came home to start my truck only to relize my battery was dead....

Your solution is a little hard to find too bad they told you to change the alternator. It is a simple fuse you need to change that is blown. on the expetion sometimes there are two one in the fuse box and one under a black cover follow the alternator small wires it should point to the direction of the small i believe 7.5 amp fuse. it was hard to find and i do this for a living. good searching.

Every once in a while the battery is dead

sounds like you have a short somewhere if it sits for a few days does it loose power and not want to start?
if you start it every day (or once every 12 hours and let it run for about 20 min) is there no problem?? if so you probably have a short somewhere that is draining the battery slowly

New battery and it still won't crank at times.

you would need an ohm meter or a test light to figure out what is drawing voltage. you probably have short some where or, just perhaps the ignition switch is bad.
