Question about Honda Cars & Trucks
I recently broke my key and even though I got a new one made and it works to start the bike, open the gas tank and storage. It doesn't lock the steering. The locksmith told me to call Honda to get a code so I did and they said they don't hold on to them after a couple years and even if they did it wouldn't be there cuz I didn't buy the bike there. I don't know if that's true or not but I asked what's next and they said to remove the ignition and have the locksmith perfect the key which the locksmith agreed.

If you can get someone to help, you can have them press down on the metal lock plate and you can then remove the small wire snap ring on the post.using a small pick or screwdriver. There is a too for this but I made one from a large thick flat washer with two drilled & threaded holes with 1/4 " bolts.(looks like an odd little puller) I adjust it against the plate and use the column nut to depress the unit to access the snap ring.
