Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

My fitbit fell apart again and the store where I purchased it said they can't do anything about it. Told me to glue it - AGAIN

Clip that holds face on keeps falling off. Glued it like the store told me and it fell off twice more. Now piece is so loose it won't allow hook up to charger. Purchased 1-16-2016 and first fell apart after 3 months. Will send this back to be repaired or what ever.

SOURCE: Problem with '95 BMW 325i not starting

I had this problem in my shop and its been a Crank sensor and on one occasion it was a fuel pump relay that was bad. Most like its a the cranks sensor that's bad NOT the fuel pump relay but check both. To check see what missing when vehicle doesn't start or shuts off . If there is NO gas its the relay. If there is NO spark its the cranks sensor. Good Luck and contact if you need more help. Thanks for using FIX YA

SOURCE: My rear view mirror fell

Should be a small allen head set screw holding the button to the mirror assembly. Loosen and remove, re-assemble after the glue dries.

SOURCE: SAAB 93 Gear knob keeps popping out

I had the same problem on my 03 aero, the gear knob sits on a spline on the stick. The issue is wear on the gearknob (alloy I think) I resolved mine last year by turning the knob slightly so that the splines effectively cut a new slot into the gear knob. This does mean it is not fully square but rotating only one spline does not make that much difference. It does need a good few taps to get it down on the splines but managed it by hand ok.I turned mine so it was angled to be read by the driver, so more 11 o clock than 12 o clock. 8 months later all is fine. Hope that makes sense.

Rear view mirror

1. Slide the metal disc off the base of the rear view mirror assemble. For newer models of cars the metal plate may have to be removed with a properly sized Allen wrench. These are L shaped wrenches that are designed to remove hex head screws and can be purchased at any hardware store. While there you should also pick up a razor blade scraper and some masking tape.
2. Head to your local Schuck's or other automotive store and purchase a rear view mirror adhesive kit for around $3. This super strong adhesive is a two part system that comes with a tube of glue and a vial of accelerant.
3. From the outside of the car, use masking tape to mark the area where the old glue adhesive still remains.
4. From the inside, scrape off whatever is left of the glue residual.
5. Since this glue only works in temperatures of 60 or above, you will have to make special provisions when the weather is cold. The car should be placed in a warmed garage or facing the sunlight. A blow dryer can also be used to heat up the windshield, although don't hold it too close to avoid cracking the glass.
6. Once the glue has been scraped off the windshield, wipe down the area with rubbing alcohol. The metal plate should also be wiped down with alcohol.
7. Apply the accelerant directly to the mounting area on the windshield. Allow to let dry 5 minutes. In the meantime, apply the accelerant to the flat part of the base plate as well and let dry.
8. Slather on the adhesive on the back of base plate and press it onto the glass. Hold in place for about 2 minutes until the glue begins to set up. Let the glue dry overnight before reattaching the rear view mirror.

Rearview mirror fell off. how do i remove the metal plate from the mirror to reglue

It may be held on by small set screw. (Allen wrench type) Or it just pops on and off, with effort.
To pop it off, hold the mirror as it would normally sit, and with that position in mind, you want to slide the metal plate down and out of the mirror clip, and you may have to pry on it a bit to get it started.

After you have reattached the plate to the windshield, you will have to apply almost the same force to clip the mirror back on.

Tips: Mark the location of the metal plate with a piece of tape on the outside of the windshield.
Make sure you clean the old glue off both the plate and windshield. Do not scratch metal plate.
Make sure you glue the plate on correctly. Do a trial fit on the mirror just prior to glueing.

I need help taking apart my drivers side door on a 95 Pontiac Firebird in order to fix my window that partially fell off of the track. Also what would be the best way to fix the window issue, an adhisive...

If the door fell off the track then either the track is broken or mis-aligned. Don't use glue or tape, find out what caused the door to fall off in the first place and correct it.

Your parts store should have a diagram of the door and can tell you where the screws and pins are, othewise you can just pull out all the visible screws (including the one on the door handle) and the other things holding the door on are plastic push fittings. To take these out you just have to find the fittings and pry at them with a wonderbar.

The parts store can also sell you a new track/motor/etc.

The rar view mirror fell off. How do i put it back on

There are a few products sold at Autoparts stores. If you can find 3M brand or a brand with an activator, they seem to work best.

You need to do several things to prepare for the job. First, get some tape and outline the old mounting position from the outside of the windshield. Then clean the inside surface of the glass.

You want to separate the mounting clip from the mirror stem. Usually there is an Allen screw in the clip. Sometimes the clips have a spring underneath that needs to be pushed down to allow the mirror stem to slide off. Note the position of the clip, if the narrow end is up or down and then glue the clip to the glass in the same direction.

After the clip has had time to adhere, slide the mirror stem into the clip, tighten the Allen screw and you are done. You will have to HOLD the clip against the glass for at least 2 minutes when you are glueing it.

Or you can go to a Glass Installer and they can do it.
