Heater not blowing hot air

Hmm, sounds like your heating unit is gone. They are located behind the dash, usually behind the glove box. The heating unit is not an easy fix. Now If there is NO air at all, the actual blower unit is gone, also, not an easy fix, located also behind the dash, the common problem in the blower unit is the Copper Bushes. They wear down and no longer make contact with the blower motor, causing it to stop. Now for the heater unit, i will basically tell you this, take it to an Auto Electrician either way. I am one by trade, but can not help you over the internet to fix it as requires a lot of pulling your dash apart, i will save you the trouble and just take it to an expert to repair.

Brake light and battery lights are on in a 2006 nissan quest

This just happened to us. While driving the Brake and Battery light went on. These signs do point to the alternator not charging. Eventually car wouldnt accelerate. What happened is that our alternator belt fell off. 5 hours after being towed belt was changed and we drove off... turn on the a/c and loud squeal! Turn off a/c and its gone. Back at the shop were told the a/c unit seized somewhere causing the alternator belt to snap while we were driving down the highway (Apparently they share a pulley or something.. still gotta look that up as soon as we get back home) Both lights went on because the alternator wasnt charging. Cant turn on a/c for the rest of the trip or were stranded for hours again. Check ur belts, pullies, a/c unit and test alternator.. hope this helps u guys

I have a 1988 caalier z24 and sometimes for long periods of time my gauge cluster will flash on and off,why is it doing this and how can i fix this?

Hi Christuffer I have a 1986 Z24 hatch back. My Digital cluster went out twice. The first time I took it to the shop to be fixed. It was over $ 250.00. Then about a year later, it went out again. My tach was the only thing that would light up and be able to read. On real cold days, the cluster would come on untill my car warmed up. They would also flash on and off, when for some reason the cluster would come on and work for 2-15 mins. I got sick of guessing how much gas I had. So I decided to fix the cluster once more. This time I was unemployed, and had the time to fix it myself. Only cost me $125 with shipping. Its very easy to do yourself. Pretty much unscrewing 6 screws, then taking the cluster out. When you ship your cluster out. You dont want it banging around in the box, causing more damage to it. Or other boxes putting to much weight on it breaking it while in trans. So pack it right. I sent it out to Speedometer Repair Guy 123 W. Sarnia St. Winoa. MN 55987. 507-429-4489. Took about eight days to get it back, shipping from Greenfield MA. You can also still drive your car while it's out. Make sure your gas tank is full before you take it out. Right now my cold start valve is not working, and leaking gas. Anyone know where I can get one, please let me know. Seems like this is a long gone part. That no one makes or sells anymore. Sorry if I offend you Chris. Anyone thinking about buying a cavalier. Don't. Worst nightmare I've ever owned. I've owned many older cars. All them put together, would not have the amount of problems I've had with this car. If I could sell this car for half the money I have put in it. It would have been gone. With this economy and being laid off twice. I got stuck with this piece of s###t and I have no other option except, keep on fixing it. I have about 13 grand saved for a 2011 mustang V6. When I have 15 grand. I'll go buy it, and keep the chitty for winter driving.

Just purchased '97 Grand Prix for my son to "get around" in-the gauge indicated just under 1/2 tank of gas so we went to fill it up & after 5 gal. we realized the gauge wasn't moving! Nervous enough...

This could be the instrument cluster or more likely the sending unit has gone bad. The sending unit is located in the tank and is part of the fuel pump assembly. It is a fairy intensive job. A normal shop will charge around 600-700 dollars to fix this. It may be easier to reset the mileage counter every time you fill up and then always fill up before the 250 mile marker. I hope this helps!

The master cylinder brake lines broke before the proportion valve

Obviously you have a bunch of badly rusted lines. Better they failed while you were working on them rather than driving down the road! Carefully inspect the remainder of the lines and if in similar condition to the ones that failed, you need to replace them. When finished and system is tight, then bleed out system. (check it twice to ensure all air is gone.)

4 wheel drive not engaging 1986 4 runner IFS

The self locking hubs (or automatic hubs) are actuated by vacuum. The vacuum line is usually on the driver's side of the differential, towards the front of the vehicle on Toys. You might want to check it out and see if it's cracked, broken, or gone.

Sporatic problem with Stereo and Stereo Display

I have had this problem intermittently since I purchased the vehicle in 2004... the dealer could not fix but showed me that there is a relay that you can pull and re-install. It's under the hood and must be done with the ignition and lights off. Pull the relay, wait 10 secs and re-install and pblm goes away. If you are standing in front of the vehicle there is a relay box on your right/vehicle left. The relay is located in the lower left-had corner of this box. Not a permanent fix, and in my experience the problem goes away when the vehicle is parked for an hour or so but if you have a long drive and want to use the radio, this 60-second fix is worth knowing...
