SOURCE: whistling noise

Have you tried placing something over the grille area temporarily, to try & isolate it. Can you tell roughly the area it's coming from?

SOURCE: Ford F150 engine whistles at cold start

it could be a pulley that is cold or lubricant on it is low. Or could be the air intake system. Nothing serous anyways.

SOURCE: my truck has been making a whistling sound this

could be a worn out belt tensioner pulley,if it is dont let it go too long,it could spit the belt off.The tensioner pulley is about $20.00+ but cant really say without hearing it,could be a number of things,to know for sure spray wd40 on the bearing-if it quiets down then replace it.

Whistling sound coming from right rear

Checking Window Seals - The window seals (weather stripping) in your car are used to seal the water and wind for entering the passenger compartment. When these seals fail from damage or are eroded by the weather they can allow wind noise to enter the passenger compartment. This failure can cause a whistling noise as the car is driven. Some noises are only present when the vehicle is driven at certain speeds such as 55 MPH. These whistling noises can be difficult to find since you are driving at the time. Have a passenger help with the diagnosis by running their hand along the area the noise is being generated from. Once the noise source has been located replace or repair the failed seal and recheck.

Has anyone come up with a fix for the loud whistle in the f 150's? I have replaced the idler pully and one other pully as well as the serpentine belt. Still have the problem when the weather is below 40....

I thought this was an issue with the alternator. If it is the same one, there was a TSB on this a while back, only sound issue, to date I have yet to see a failure with the alternator due to this.

My 2006 does it, I confirmed with an engine stethoscope still have no issues in 56K miles, and stil have the factory battery installed.

How do you find out if you have a heritage or other 2004 Super crew F150

The heritage model were 2004 model year built trucks that looked like the previous 97-03 body style trucks for buyers who rathered those trucks. all were built in canada. The 2004 f-150 was of the body style closer to the 2004-2008 line. basically it was to diferentiate between the two totally seperate trucks.
So if your truck looks more like a 2005 or 06 than a 2002 or 03 I would say it is not a Heritage. Also, I am sure the dealer could tell you just from the vin number.

I have a 2003 f150 45ooo mile / noise from engine when tepature is below 10 degrees, high pitch whistle , i i let off the gas it stops.

Your alternator has to work harder in the cold weather.
I have heard many vehicles do the same thing.
Just to make sure, check the alt, but also a leaking vacuum line will make that kind of noise, check your lines make sure they are tight and not cracked or britle.
