What would make the ignition switch stick an not turn to start the motor

Clyde, try moving steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn key. This sound like it should have been a recall for faulty ignitions as when I googled it, there are a lot of cross fires with the same problem. Clyde, google search (2005 crossfire ignition switch)
There is just too much for me to write.

Clutch adjustment

stick or auto trans, my guess is stick, (both have clutches)
STICK shifted.
some have cable. and a simple adjuster at end like a bicycle has.
others have a Hydraulic actuated clutch.

so open hood, see back side of pedals at the fire wall.
see cable, its cable
see master cylinder its Hydraulic is is self adjusting

why not post symptoms first. then ask quesitons
so we can be on the same page?????????

with cable set it for 1/2" free play in cable.
do so every 30k miles like the FSM books says...
if the MC has no fluid, nows that time to fess up.....????

My honda civic model 2007 1.8 exi automatic key is not switching on

Most likely the gear stick is not detecting the Park position. Try to shift the gear stick back and forth in the track and put it back in Park position. If this does not work then check if the steering lock is not stuck. Move the steering wheel left and right a few times and see if the ignition key moves. Otherwise a trip to the mechanic.

Oldsmobile intrigue problems

make sure the throttle cable is not damaged and moves easily by disconnecting the cable at the throttle body and move the cable back and forth it should move easily and no restriction in movement. if this is good then you can try to clean the throttle body as it gets dirty inside and can cause the throttle to stick.

How to fix sticking throttle

Take a can of carburator cleaner and spray the throttle linkage while working it back and forth. If it still sticks you will need to clean the inside of the throttle body around the butterfly flap and work it back and forth while spraying the cleaner and wipe with a cloth. The butterfly is probally sticking.

My car is stuck in second gear, the stick shift is just flopping back and forth. I can not change gears so I am driving with my hazards on and 20mph in second gear. Any thoughts

Is it a stick shift or auto tranny?

If stick shift then the shift fork may be bent thus why it's stuck or

A tranny mount is bad causing the tranny to lean on the shifter mechanism

Or you need a clutch adjustment.

It sounds more like a cable or linkage sticking, and yes it is transmission related, sort of, just because of the high RPM before shifting. Spray all your cables good with lube, at throttle linkage, and get under and look where cable & linkages are at side of transmission, and spray them good too, and work them back & forth, to try & loosen them up. Truck shut off & in park when under it eh.!
Then work shifter back & forth, gas pedal to floor & up etc, to try & loosen things up. That may just cure your problem.

89 suburban back fires through the throttle body mainly when it's cold. Also hear a little knocking noise through trottle boby. Seems to lack power. I've changed several parts: fuel pump, oil sensor...

Check the timing chain..Take the belt of and turn the crank by hand and see how much slop there is when you turn it back and forth..If theres not much then there could be a cam problem. But most of the time its the timing chain..Hope this helps you and have a great night....
