2004 Buick Rendezvous gas cap removal problems

I just don't have the strength necessary to remove the gas cap on my SUV, and I had a friend at the station, a big strong farmer and he removed it for me, with great difficulty. This surely shouldn't happen. I bought a new cap, hoping that would help, and it didn't. What do I do now?

Don't tighten it tight. Just snug it.A little grease on the threads may help also. don-ohio (:^)

Thanks so much Don, as I just put the cap on and turn to snug a quarter turn clockwise, and it works just fine now. No need to turn clockwise until it clicks 3 or more times. Just on and quarter turn clockwise and it is snug and that is all it needed. Much appreciated, Don!

You're welcome,Randy! Glad it works okay without wearing you out.
It just seems today like everything....soda pop or bottled water lids, bathroom handles, milk jug lids, just a lot of things are harder to operate and don't have the smoothness of the products of years ago. don-ohio (:^)

I accidentally closed the rear hatch on some sort of wire and now I can't get the hatch open again. I am unable to pull the piece of wire that it closed on out. How do I fix this? Thanks so much.!

Here's what you can try to open the hatch of your 2004 Buick Rendezvous:

Open the hatch and slip a screwdriver's shaft into the opening of the latch (simulating that the latch has engaged the metal bar on the floor of the SUV).

Apply pressure in the latch via the shaft of the screwdriver. While pulling against the latch, operate the unlock button of the fob or unlock with the key (whichever your truck has) .

If this doesn't work, you may want to consider taking your car to a professional mechanic or a Buick dealership for further assistance. But here is video on how to remove a window, if that servers any help. Door Window Removal And Installation Buick Rendezvous (youtube.com)

2004 rendezvous. water'pump siezed and vehicle overheated. new pump, thermostat, 16 psi radiator cap, radiator... was pressure tested with no 'obvious leaks'. minimal to no heat .

Did you get all the air out, remove radiator cap, start up.let run until the thermostat opens, you will see the flow in radiator, put cap back on and fill overflow container to full.

Problems opening the gas cap for removal when gassing up my 2004 Buick Rendezvous. Just bought a new cap and same problem, won't open

If the cap is hard to remove, this is a common problem with older GMs. The mating surface at the end of the filler tube becomes slightly corroded and is sticking to the rubber seal on the cap. Plug the filler tube with a rag (to avoid any explosive hazard), clean the mating surface with lacquer thinner, gently buff it with crocus cloth and try that. If it still sticks, lubricate the cap rubber seal with a thin coat of a lubricant (ONLY one approved for rubber/plastic materials).

Have to mash gas pedal on 2007 buick rendezvous to crank, after starting it will idle fine but sometimes die for no apparent reason, what would cause this?

Test your fuel pressure for leak down while sitting.. It should hold 52-59 psi... If not it could be a weak fuel pump..Also test the fuel pressure regulator to see if its leaking gas into the vacuum lines.. Alot of times you can do this by running the vehicle then leaving it set for 45 min and then removing the vacuum line at the fuel regulator and checking for wetness... If its wet with fuel its leaking and needs replaced..

2004 buick rendezvous reverselights wont go on

Best if you open the plastic and use voltmeter on the reverse light contacts. Check fuses or worse the reverse switch on the gear handle...
