Have you checked fuel pump relay?

I forgot to mention that the car will actually run for a couple of seconds then die. I checked the pressure at the rail and it's 35psi and that seems a little low to me.

SOURCE: 1998 Chevy tahoe Hard to start when cold

Hello, yes the check valve is in the fuel pump assembly. The check valve is leaking and the pump will burn out soon. Unfortunately the aftermarket fuel pumps can be very unreliable. A good portion of problems we see on this site are from people who replace the pump sometimes twice and it still doesn't work.

replace your MAP sensor(manifold absolute pressure) the map sensor is the computer for your fuel pressure regulator telling how much pressure. Unless your tahoe runs like **** going up hill than it inevitably your fuel pump

SOURCE: i am not getting power to my fuel pump

on a lot of ford products there is a switch that goes from the fuel pump to the inside of one of the bedsides.
what this is, is a shock switch that turns the fuel pump off if it absorbs a hit.
its a really dumb safety feature but its effective.
there is a red button on it that u have to press to make it active again.
sometimes they just trip for no reason.

So what you saying is it's hard to start cold right? Something in computer system not allowing excess fuel to injectors when cold. Probably sensor Get auto electrician to sort it out otherwise you end up replacing things that there is nothing wrong with They got the right gear

Hi Kenneth, Have the fuel pump output pressure checked. The pressure at the test point should be more than three bar (+43 lbs per square inch) A gentle trickle is not enough, it should be a fountain! (Always wear safety googles before testing) Make sure you've connected the delivery and return pipes correctly and the pipes are not crimped or bent causing a restriction. If all is okay maybe replace the pump again. Regards John

Where is the fuel pump located on a 1998 oldsmobile achieva?

The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank so to replace it the tank will need to be dropped out unless there is an access plate in the trunk.

1997Acheiva 2.4L fuel leaking at pressure regulator, why?

The regulator has a rubber o-ring that seals it to the fuel rail, It can also be a defective diaphram inside the regulator.I would suggest that you replace the regulator.

Miss in engine think it is fuel pump? any info for testing pump ?

Start by getting a fuel system tester from your parts store (they may even have a loaner). They should be able to show you where to check (it's a port on the fuel rail that looks like a tire stem valve). They will also be able to tell you the proper pressure. If it is low, the fuel pump is probably the problem, though the fuel pressure regulator is a possibility.

Do you remember the last time the fuel filter was change? If you don't, do that first, it could be pluged. If that don't work or is not an issue, have a fuel pressure test done to see if fuel pump is weak, and ready to go out, or already has.
